Re: What's happening to DA's?

For me, the CTC shot itself in BOTH feet a long time ago. I believe it is yet another organisation that exists purely for the benefit of its employees and not the members. Some will disagree, but that's how I see it. The CTC should have been put out of its misery years ago.

Re: Should we discuss politics on this forum?

In response to the original question :- NO.
Religion and politics are two subjects that will divide people who would otherwise get on. I certainly don't want to fall out with anyone I share a hobby such as cycling with.

Re: Osteoarthritis

Anti-inflammatories cause reflux and heartburn. I take an antacid (Lanzoprazole), but this is only partially effective.

Re: Osteoarthritis

I currently take Gabapentin for the pain it causes to my sciatic nerve, and Zapain, (a codeine based painkiller), for the actual arthritis. I can't tolerate anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen. According to the Arthritis Care group, cycling is a good exercise but I have yet to meet anyone, online...

Osteoarthritis

Does anyone here cycle with this condition? I have had back problems for some time and have had 7 lumbar injections. I now learn that I have not only got lumbar osteoarthritis, but osteoarthritis in both hips. Has anyone got any advice regarding cycling and this condition.

What Can Be Done to Increase Participation?

Member Groups are an asset to the CTC, but most members don't ride with a group. What should be done to increase participation? Why do members choose not to participate?

I think Max Clifford should have been locked up years ago, simply for being Max Clifford.

Re: Havering CTC. Essex or East London?

Wetherspoons on a Friday or Saturday night is the same anywhere. Most of Essex is rural, and therefore picturesque. Silly programmes like TOWIE give an entirely false representation of the county. Havering, as you point out, is a LONDON borough, and therefore NOT in Essex. Why are the Havering group...

Havering CTC. Essex or East London?

In 1965, when Havering was formed by joining Romford Council and Hornchurch Council, it became part of Greater London and has been The London Borough of Havering ever since. Why is it that as far as the CTC is concerned, Havering is in Essex, when the Essex boundary stops at Brentwood in the east, a...

Re: What's your resting heart rate?

It was mid 40s, but since a lengthy lay off due to a back operation, it has now risen to mid 50s. I've also found my cholesterol level has increased as well as my blood pressure. Not good.

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)

1977 RORY O'BRIEN of Romford, Essex That gave me a great wallop of a flashback. Though I've lived in Lancashire for my entire adult life I grew up in Chadwell Heath and Rory O'Brien's shop was where I went for bits and drooled at the bikes. I'd forgotten all about them. Are they still in existence?...
