Re: Dog Attack! - Apparently not.

Hi, Police say see dog warden..................Dog warden says see police.................... Perhaps more joy with dog warden as they are definitely under worked. I think there is truth in your first statement! I sent an email to the District Council requesting how to report a dangerous dog...

Re: Mugabe the survivor?

Whatever you term it, I hope (and expect) you are proved wrong, as do millions of Zimbabwe citizens - who have high levels of education and literacy (1st in most tables) in the context of prevailing African standards. I'm optimistic this is a turning point, and I think in the light of the above that...

Re: Dog Attack! - Apparently not.

The victims were rare-breed sheep here, not cyclists, so it attracts more media attention. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-42032353 "Although dogs may have only playful intent, livestock and other farm animals often misinterpret this, causing them to flee." Farmers tend to b...

Re: Mugabe the survivor?

Two aspects seemingly glossed over in most reporting. Did Mugabe "get worse"? No - "In fact, the signs of his attitude to opposition were there from the early 1980s, when members of the North-Korea trained Fifth Brigade of the army were sent to Matabeleland, home to his then rival, J...

Re: Mugabe the survivor?

Indeed, isn't it just the case that in some societies one is able to be rather prouder of one's corruption than others?

Because they have moderated their speed such that I can see they are going to stop. Frankly, I'd rather have road rage than the alternative.

To be clear, I do not do this routinely. I do it when I judge I am in danger.

Where's the new road rule?

Re: Dog Attack! - Apparently not.

To answer the post I had a similar problem being frequently pursued by a Great Dane. Police response was that "he probably only wants to play" I pointed out that even so I could have been knocked off - they did speak to the owner and a secure fence was erected. A Great Dane doing that cou...

Re: Should use of motor vehicle rear fog lamps only be allowed on special roads eg motorways?

In such a circumstance sensible people keep their foot on the brake to alert approaching cars that they have stopped. If approaching cars are expecting foglights, this will no longer work as a method of warning them. Even better to "pulse" the brake to ensure attention is drawn. Is it? I ...

Re: Where am I

We thought about hiring a tandem mobility scooter just for an hour or two. Trouble is, they only hire by the week. We still would like to do it, so we'll call in and ask. Should be a laugh to drive one about, and we could take it in turns in the driving seat. Back at the hotel now. Going to be watc...
