Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

They all worry me for different reasons, sadly.

As I've posted previously though my instinctive alignment with the equal society movement has been significantly weakened by the decision of a majority of their constituency to vote for something that I have little doubt will make them poorer...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

If the whole of the brexit debacle has shown up anything at all from the ordinary wo/man on the street(or Clapham Omnibus if you prefer) it's what a totally incompetent and splintered into many fragments the present government and Tory party is and of it's only interest being in a small portion of ...

Re: Electric cars

Furthermore, I have read that hybrids do not score well on long motorway runs. Otherwise I would certainly be interested in one... Here's a thing. I ran a Prius for 80+K miles, primarily up and down the M40, with a few miles either end. I achieved a measured 55mpg, which for a car of that size I wa...

Re: Electric cars

........... The Japanese are literally decades ahead. We have a 2014 Yaris Hybrid, and it's wonderful. Positively the best car we've ever owned. Not necessarily for the build quality - as it's fairly normal in that - but for the drive quality. Absolute pleasure and relaxing to drive. Engine plus EV...

Re: Electric cars

Why would anyone even consider buying a German hybrid vehicle anyway? Quite aside from the moral turpitude of the VAG group; all the decades VW, MB and BMW were busy refining (cough) their diesels,Toyota and Honda have been quietly getting on with developing efficient hybrids. The Japanese are lite...

Re: Cyclo cross/gravel/adventure/touring - steel or alloy?

The main feature is aluminium frame with carbon forks to give some flexibility. Fitting points for front carrier (I think). Not obvious how you fit a mudguard to a carbon fork - I assume you use the front carrier fittings? The mounting points on a carbon fork are for mudguards only. Carbon forks ar...

Re: Electric cars

My brother has a hybrid petrol/electric VW Golf. He is a real tech-head and was telling me how it automatically swaps from one to the other under different driving conditions. He did admit that he has no idea how the thing operates or whether it has any cost savings benefits. I took the conversatio...
