Re: Which settings for ewerk into powerbank?

I was using the cache battery as designed in line to my phone, it is purely anecdotal but when charging a battery bank I would ride for 4 or 5 hours then charge my phone or tablet and not be able to fully charge it but using the cache battery it seems to charge more efficiently, I would presume as t...

Re: Which settings for ewerk into powerbank?

I've been using the E werk into the cache battery to then charge my phone and GPS and it all worked well, the E werk was set at 5.6v and 1.5A, I've tried using it for charging a battery bank without the cache battery but it seemed to take ages and not charge very much so out of preference would now ...

Re: Garmin Edge failure - what next

I would look at one of the wahoo computers, I've got a elemnt bolt and really like it, much better than my old edge 500, the elemnt roam looks good with better mapping if thats going to be a major use for it. I like mine as in syncs over WiFi so its very easy to load routes onto in that you've creat...

Re: IGH Drop bar commuting bike

Picked up the bike on Friday a Genesis day one with an alfine 11 which doesn't seem to have done many miles and looking forward to getting out on it and putting the miles on, although the disc brakes hardly seem to work currently a set of promax render r so trying to have a fiddle with them to get t...

Re: IGH Drop bar commuting bike

When building up a wheel for an IGH is there anything in particular that needs to be considered with the larger flange sizes or is it ok to build them up as you would a normal rear hub.

Re: IGH Drop bar commuting bike

Thanks for the replies everyone, good to know that I can use a normal 135mm disc frame which should make finding a frame easier. How does the alfine 11 compare to the other hubs and when sizing the sprocket and chainring is it normal to size it like a single speed or part of the way through the rang...

IGH Drop bar commuting bike

I'm looking at building/buying a IGH bike for my fairly flat commute, with disc brake and ideally a dynamo hub. Are there any hubs that are worth looking out for or avoiding and would be looking to build it up reasonably affordably so had been looking at the various 8 speed hubs available. Is it pos...

Re: UK cardinal points

I was planning on not going too far into Wales probably stick close ish to the Welsh border most of the way up. Then through Oban to Mull although might go via Fort William if I decide to go up Ben Nevis, I was thinking of going onwards to Skye then up the coast as far as possible, possibly all the ...

Re: UK cardinal points

Thats good to know about the LEL route as I've found before that sustrans routes seem to take you on some interesting routes and can be hard to follow at times.

Are there any similar routes up the west coast up to the borders?

Re: UK cardinal points

I'll have to have a look at the LEL route, also saw that the sustrans route 1 covers almost all of the east coast so might be an easier route to follow although it seems to depend on the route a bit.

Re: UK cardinal points

I'll have a look at including them as well as they seem fairly well on route.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good route down the east coast from Edinburgh south.

UK cardinal points

I'm starting to plan a tour to the mainland UKs 4 cardinal points and was looking for any advice that people may have. I'm planning on starting near Reading before heading to the Lizard then Ardnamurchan then onto Dunnet head then finally to Lowestoft before heading back to Reading. The current plan...

Re: Norwegian touring.

I toured around Norway for about 6 weeks last summer from the start of June until mid July, I started in Trondheim then headed along the coast to Mandal then got the train up to the Lofoten islands and cycled back to Trondheim. I would strongly recommend the the stretch from the Lofotens to Trondhei...

Re: Touring New Zealand

Good to know that the current set up should be ok for most stuff that I would be riding. Also thanks for the route it looks very nice and seems to cover a lot of varied terrain and areas, where would you recommend going for the North Island as currently the only ideas I'd had were to head up to the ...

Re: Touring New Zealand

Thanks for the info on the weather, very useful to know. At the moment I'm thinking for south Island heading down the east coast before returning up through the centre and crossing over one of the passes onto the west coast. Does this sound like a reasonable plan to try and avoid the wet weather as ...
