Re: Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

The one you've order is a front pull whereas the photo of tqhe XT in the OP is bottom pull, that's OK if you're aware of it as the Vagabond will cope with either but you'll need a straight through outer cable for the front mech you've ordered. Just noticed reohn, the main title on link says front pu...

Re: Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

Thanks for that reohn... So I will have to run the gear cable with outer another route from the current one along the downtube & under the bottom bracket.. Nothing ever straight forward when your mechanical skills are at best basic!!

Regards..

Re: Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

Hello thelawnet!! Many thanks for the information provided. Very helpful indeed & I'm going to have a browse online for a FD-M8000-H. Am I right in thinking this mech will be OK for my cable routing type ? Gear cable runs under the down tube & through a plastic mount under the bb shell.. I h...

Re: Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

Also whilst I'm at it, I have 2 spacers on the drive side hollowtech 2 bottom bracket & noticed I might be able to remove one & still have enough room for the small ring to not catch the chainstay..Or should I keep 2 spacers on ??

Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

Morning... Just wondered if anybody can point me in the right direction for a front triple mech that will work with my new M8000 XT triple chainset.. Have just taken my old Deore triple off my Vagabond & it soon became clear the current XT mech would not be compatible with the new XT chainset.. ...

Re: XT M8000 triple with a 9 speed chain??

Thanks Brucey... Going off topic, I run a 9 speed triple deore, with a deore rear mech & dura ace bar end shifters.. Local cycle mechanic told me the shifters would not index properly with the deore mech..It shifts flawlessly. Noticed on shimano's info it said use a certain type of chain only fo...

Re: XT M8000 triple with a 9 speed chain??

You might find a greater tendency for the chain to rub on the adjacent chainring when cross chaining, as a 9-speed chain is about 1mm wider across the rivets. But if you're replacing the chain at the same time, no reason that you can't use an 11s chain with a 9s cassette - the internal width is the...

XT M8000 triple with a 9 speed chain??

Have just ordered a Shimano XT M8000 chainset from CRC's & thought it was a 10 speed chainset.. Unfortunately it's an 11 speed & I'm not sure it will work on my current 9 speed system.. Or can a 11 speed chainset be run with a 9 speed chain ?? Think I might have to ring CRC's up in the morni...

Re: Hope Enduro & WTB Horizons 650b

Thanks for the suggestions and advice Gattonero.. I have a Genesis Vagabond & wanted to try a larger tyre that was good on the road, canal & forest tracks. Also went down to 650b, so I could fit my mudguards. Not possible with 2" tyres on 29er.. I may try some kenda small block 8's or s...

Re: Hope Enduro & WTB Horizons 650b

Thanks Brucey...

I should have used more caution & read up more about the rims before purchasing. Have just read WTB tubeless tyres can be some of the worst to fit. Damn it.

Re: Hope Enduro & WTB Horizons 650b

Thanks Gattonero... Going to have another go at them over the weekend & if no luck, I will look to go tubeless. Have never felt the need to before, so need to read up about it. Although the enduros are tubeless specific, I have read they can be used with tubes, but know you will get better resul...
