Re: Dura Ace 9 Speed Bar End Shifters & rear mech options?

Why do you need an MTB rear mech in the first instance, what's wrong with a road RD? Current commute bike has been used for all sorts including off road and riding over boulders, broken up trails, sandy dunes, woods etc, it runs a Tiagra 4400, 48-36-26 with 12-28 but can easily go to a 32T sprocket...

Re: Dura Ace 9 Speed Bar End Shifters & rear mech options?

RD-M772 was in stock at several places until very recently. I don't know whether they have finally discontinued it or whether it being out of stock is Covid related. Anyway if you want to keep your indexing and use a Deore 10s MTB mech (with 9s shifters and 9s cassette), you can do so if you use sh...

Dura Ace 9 Speed Bar End Shifters & rear mech options?

Hello All.. Just thought I would ask for some advice about rear mech options for Dura Ace 9 speed bar end shifters. I run the same shifters on another bike with a Deore mech which shifts well. I have just built up a Surly Midnight Special & the M772 XT mech I have is shot at & I need a repla...

Re: Shimano MT800 tool ?

Can anybody link me to a suitable tool to fit the smaller type hollowtech 2 bottom brackets? The plastic adapters supplied for existing removal tool is pretty rubbish. I would rather have something machined and made for the job.. Have seen the Park Tools one, but dont really want to pay £30. NB the...

philvantwo wrote:I got the proper shimano one from Chain Reaction, half inch drive and made to last. Cost me £18 but perfect fit, I read reviews that the park tool one was made of soft aluminium.

Think I will go for this one thanks.. Just wasn't 100% on which one to get.

Thanks..

Re: Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

The one you've order is a front pull whereas the photo of tqhe XT in the OP is bottom pull, that's OK if you're aware of it as the Vagabond will cope with either but you'll need a straight through outer cable for the front mech you've ordered. Just noticed reohn, the main title on link says front pu...

Re: Compatible Front mech for M8000 XT Chainset

Thanks for that reohn... So I will have to run the gear cable with outer another route from the current one along the downtube & under the bottom bracket.. Nothing ever straight forward when your mechanical skills are at best basic!!

Hello thelawnet!! Many thanks for the information provided. Very helpful indeed & I'm going to have a browse online for a FD-M8000-H. Am I right in thinking this mech will be OK for my cable routing type ? Gear cable runs under the down tube & through a plastic mount under the bb shell.. I h...
