Re: Pannier rack for urban bike?

An update. See attached photo of the eyes on the frame of the bike. I've never seen these type before - I think they are not functional eyes but just the design of the frame. Am I right?

Pannier rack for urban bike?

My sister would like a rack fitted to her bike. Its a Claud Butler Urban Hybrid - smallish as she's only 5' 1" tall. Its only for light shopping but with panniers. I have some inexpensive Lidl panniers to give her. What would people recommend? Amazon Prime is preferred as postage would be inclu...

Re: Cinelli quill stem

I should mention the weird look to the headset is in fact a reusable cable tie. Once I discovered these I mounted three around the bike as useful for luggage when touring etc.

Re: Cinelli quill stem

If that's the case it looks like I'll be seeking a new stem. Which is a shame as its beautiful... Any recommendations? It would need to have a higher reach. The frame is a late 90s 531C Harry Hall audax modded (pump peg/front light screw on fork and cable guides moved to under top tube) and fitted w...

Cinelli quill stem

I guess I'd be over the limit locking off this stem here? Or is that arrow the top of two with a lower one below?

I bought the above arriving tomorrow. £2.69 for 36 and a tube of grease with free delivery on Prime. I expect they are the same as the ones Brucey mentions above. Seems like a good option.

Re: Wheel bearings for Carrera Subway1?

Just photographed the front wheel hub. There are no markings on it.

Re: Carrera Subway - proper mudguards?

I just checked they're 26" tyres 40mm width. There are mudguard eyes too. The Blackburns look good. I'd have to source some nuts and bolts to secure them where the brake callipers would normally be.

Carrera Subway - proper mudguards?

I have an old ie V-brakes model and would like to fit some mudguards that properly cover both wheels as opposed to the mtb type that would appear to offer very little protection. Any pointers? Thanks, Steve

Wheel bearings for Carrera Subway1?

Recently bought an old one. On removing the front wheel I can feel the tell-tale 'crunch' of nackered wheel bearings. Does anyone know is it an easy job to replace them? And whether they are in sealed races or individual cup and cone with ball bearings? I haven't tried the back but might try to repl...

Oil out of trousers

I have black oil marks on the bottom of my cotton cord trousers. On left leg from rubbing crank. Think I tried Vanish bar with little success. Should I try a solvent eg WD40 with tissue to absorb it?
