Re: Can I permanently run tubeless tyres with inner tubes and new tyre recommendations?

Hi Scunnered, Thanks for your message and for the alternative tyre recommendation which I will look at. Hi Brucey, Thanks for your message and I will try to look for tyres which are made to take tubes. However the frustrating thing with this is that when reading he manufacturers websites I find them...

Can I permanently run tubeless tyres with inner tubes and new tyre recommendations?

Hi All, my general question is can you use tyres sold as being tubeless tyres with inner tubes in them? I'm assuming that the answer is yes because in the case of a bad enough puncture that the sealant in a tubeless tyre doesn't seal you may have to fit an inner tube as a get you home measure. Howev...

Re: Is considering a sub-compact chainset a good idea? And if so is round or oval best?

Hi thelawnet, Thanks for your message and yes the SON dynamo hub is lovely. I'd have to consider it carefully though in the context of the total costs of any other changes though because whereas the SON 28 15 6 bolt disc hub costs £250 the SP Dynamo PL-8X Thru Axle Centre Lock disc hub costs £122 I'...

Re: How to fix issues with Garmin Edge Explore 1000 and time & distance to go to point?

Hi Jessand, Many thanks for your help & advice which is much appreciated and this has helped because I've now received a message on saying that Livetrack is activated again which is a relief. The way to get through the menus was slightly different on my phone and I wondered if this could potenti...

Re: How to fix issues with Garmin Edge Explore 1000 and time & distance to go to point?

Hi jessand, Thanks for your message and when the update was done I remember the message saying that if you don't allow Garmin to access your contacts the Livetrack and Incident Detection features would be disabled and so I'm sure that I clicked to allow access to my contacts. However since that poin...

Re: How to fix issues with Garmin Edge Explore 1000 and time & distance to go to point?

Hi All and thanks for the advice, Hi Paulatic, maybe that's an answer but it's when I'm on the course that it has issues and not when it's displaying an off course message alert. Hi foxyrider, that's not a bad idea to try that. Hi jessand, further to your message don't get me started on this point b...

Re: Is considering a sub-compact chainset a good idea? And if so is round or oval best?

Hi All, Many thanks for the replies and advice above which is much appreciated! Re: the question about oval versus round I'm not definitely sure that I want to try oval chainrings. It's more that I'm considering a smaller chainset/ chainrings to make my gear ratios easier should I travel to hillier ...

Is considering a sub-compact chainset a good idea? And if so is round or oval best?

Hi All, I am primarily a commuting cyclist but my wife has given me the go ahead to try and tackle a few future rides in places away from where we live. Now I'm from the flat'ish lands of East Anglia (well that is compartively speaking against say Wales, Yorkshire, Scotland, Lake District etc.) havi...

How to fix issues with Garmin Edge Explore 1000 and time & distance to go to point?

Hi All, Firstly please accept my sincere apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere in another thread! I did do a search and I didn't spot my exact issue, amongst the many issues experienced by people, but if I missed an answer in another thread I'm sorry. My question is about the feature...

Re: Rear mechanical disc brake adjustment on a bike with horizontal rear dropouts

Hi Brucey, Many thanks for your message! I backed off the cable adjuster and also loosened off the pinch bolt on the brake cable and the rotor was still rubbing on the new disc brake pad. Therefore I took the wheel out and loosed the bolts on the caliper and pushed it outwards as far as it would go....

Re: Rear mechanical disc brake adjustment on a bike with horizontal rear dropouts

Hi Brucey, Many thanks for your message above and given that I'd fitted the new cable and wasn't happy with the braking performance I am now fitting the new pads that I bought. As I mentioned I wanted to do the jobs of changing the cable and changing the pads separate & in isolation from one ano...

Re: Rear mechanical disc brake adjustment on a bike with horizontal rear dropouts

Hi LinusR and Brucey, Thanks for your messages which is much appreciated! So far I've taken the old brake cable off. It wasn't horrendously corroded or anything like that and it was in better condition than the gear shift cable that I recently took off and replaced on my bike because that was showin...

Re: Rear mechanical disc brake adjustment on a bike with horizontal rear dropouts

Hi again, Actually don't worry about the post asking whether or not I need to remove the brake lever from the handlebar in order to replace the cable. I've just found the following info in the link below and so the way I'm reading it I can replace the cable with the lever left on the bar where it is...

Re: Rear mechanical disc brake adjustment on a bike with horizontal rear dropouts

Hi Squeaker, Thanks for your message and advice about the pads. At the moment I'm just trying to replace the cable and can I ask for any advice about the next step to take because I've got stuck. I've rolled back the rubber hood on the brake lever and I've unwound the bar tape to the point at which ...

Re: Rear mechanical disc brake adjustment on a bike with horizontal rear dropouts

Hi again, Following on from the above my plan is the replace the brake cable but I'm wondering whether or not to replace the brake pads at the same time or to keep using the current ones for a bit longer? I have ordered new pads which have arrived but I've just taken the old ones out and I wonder wh...
