Re: Solo / camping advice

Hi,

I was wondering if you had got any further with finding campsites? I am thinking of solo camping LEJOG this summer, I'm looking at around 14 days I expect and would want to camp every night. I can only go in August so I would like to find details of campsites that I can book in advance.

Re: What's wrong with the Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB?

The biggest problem seems to be they don't make it for a 29er, otherwise i'd have these for my briddleway winter hack.

Re: New to mountain bikes but willing to learn

Unless you want to ride off road & on mountains or trail centres you just don't need a 2grand bike. I ride to work (sustrans route down an old railway line and country lane with cattle grids, mud etc on a heavy ridgid 26 inck wheel bike, with frount 7 rear racks, it copes with most things. I als...

Re: Decent weight padded tights

I bought a pair of FDX winter tights of Ebay in November, I've worn them around twicee a week since then, including morning commutes at well bellow zero, I've found them just as good as the "better" pair that cost 3 times as much. I think these were around £20 when i bought them, so worth ...

Re: Dazzling or Bright - where is the dividing line?

Yes, I have found that since fitting this bright flashing back light I am givn much more space by passing trafic, and they seem to stay further back.

Re: Dazzling or Bright - where is the dividing line?

Really intended for night time MTB single track use, very bright, almost indestructable, dropped mine hard enough to dent the case, banged it into rock and bounced it down the road, it still works fine.

Re: Dazzling or Bright - where is the dividing line?

It may well be over kill for the road, but for my very dark off road ride to work i find even the lowest setting fine most of the time - (this means I only have to charge it once a week and still get a very bright light on its lowest setting they claim a burn time of up to 36 hours, at full power it...

Re: Dazzling or Bright - where is the dividing line?

I was heading home on friday along a very dark, uphill road with gates & cattle grids, a motorcyclist pulled up along side me and said "your lights are good mate, they're brighter than mine". So we paused and compared, he was right, my front light illuminated the road further ahead tha...

Re: front touring rack for suspension forks?

Thanks for the suggestions, I Really want to keep the forks, I've done 2 previous tours on this bike (about 800 miles each) on sustrans routes with off road sections (including The penine cycleway (as a return trip from Northampton) & the Holyhead - Severn bridge route as part of a Northampton t...

front touring rack for suspension forks?

I am looking for a front luggage rack for a two week cycle camping holiday, to fit 26inch rock shocks tora forks. I see that both old man mountain and Thule make something that looks suitable, but I have not been able to find anywhere that I can actually see one of these. Has anyone got any experien...

where can I buy a Crank Bros mallet C pedal spindle?

For no apparent reason the spindle in my crank bros mallet C snapped clean in half whilst riding gently down a fire road at Cannock, I rather liked these pedals and I would like to repair them, its easy to get the rebuild kits, but I can't seem to find a replacement spindle, any ideas?
