Re: New bike itch

I've recently made the most of the very same sale as the OP - Got a Galaxy Classic for the other half which she's very happy with. A lot of bike for under £900. Rest of the bikes are here for those who wish to view.

Re: Bickleigh/Crediton Cadbury Hills Devon closed.

If going from Bickleigh to Crediton, turn left before the hill ramps up, and follow the river past Bickleigh Castle, the road eventually comes out the other side of the hill. Going the other way, before the hill starts, turn right down Northdown Road, follow that road to Bickleigh. Nice little bike ...

Best Big Wheeled Folding Bike?

As the title suggests, I'm after a big wheeled folding bike for the OH as she's started commuting by train into Exeter. She's tried the Brompton style but she doesn't feel too comfortable with the small wheels, the price is quite off-putting too! We're based just out of Exeter, and I'd rather shop l...

Re: Anyone not been hit by a car

Never been hit by a car as such. I've had a car pull out from parking at the side of the road, it was too quick for me to swerve, so he just ended up with a door full of my left pedal. Karma. I also lost control down a gritty lane, and the only effective brake I had was the bonnet of a parked car at...

Re: New to cycling, LEJOG next year, what bike and tour comp

With regards to what bike, I recently purchased my Dawes Galaxy from my local bike shop as they've got a touring section set up in their stores with some great sale prices at the moment. Have a look at this page from their website, all of which are well in budget. Personal opinion of the shop & ...

CTC Magazine readers

Out of the forum users, how many of us read the CTC Magazine? As we're all aware, magazines are becoming less and less popular with this modern day interweb thing, and as such, my local newsagent doesn't stock the CTC magazine, but would be happy to get it in for me - very kind of them. But, I don't...

Well I got it from the Bike Shed in the end, and father was elated.

And yes, as mentioned, it does include allen keys.

Thanks for all your help

Re: Brooks Tool Roll

I guess it's more the idea of the product itself as opposed to the tools contained that make this appealing. He's the sort of guy who has everything he needs, so I feel as though a probably more practical park tools set will just sit among the other tools he has. However this has a collectors item k...

Brooks Tool Roll

I'm interested in buying a Brooks tool roll for my dad's birthday. Seems a decent gift and he's a Brooks fan. However, I've never bought off their website. Their prices are showing in Euros for some reason so I'm a bit concerned about it all. Don't suppose anyone knows of anywhere else that sells th...

Re: What bike for a 1000 mile+ journey?

Going to be that guy who completely ignores your budget, so apologies in advance: But, I was shopping for a similar bike to yourself, and found this page: http://www.bikesheduk.com/Dawes-Touring-Bike-Sale . There's some expensive ones, but also some at £699.00. Being built for touring, they will cer...

Re: Shwalbe Lugano tyres?

Schwalbe Ultremo ZX's are a better option in my opinion, I bought some Luganos last year when money was tight, but upgraded as soon as I could as I too felt very twitchy on them. You can get some pretty good deals online nowadays. http://road.cc/content/news/137314-cyber-monday-cycling-deals-roundup...

Re: What is the best dynamo hub for touring?

Question, is it possible to take a standard wheel, namely the one found on the Dawes Super Galaxy:

http://www.bikesheduk.com/dawes-super-galaxy

And replace the standard hub with a dynamo hub? Ideally I'd like to do this myself, but would I need to buy new spokes too?

Thanks

Re: New to cycling, LEJOG next year, what bike and tour comp

JonB, I'm unsure if you've found your bike yet. But I'm in a similar position. I'm close to buying a Dawes from the Bike Shed in Exeter. just waiting for them to get them in from their warehouse so I can test ride a couple. Here's a link to their Dawes offers at the moment, some bargains imo. http:/...
