Re: Osama Bin swimming.

Personally I have been sceptical of the whole "operation" from the start.
The US govt (and the UK) lied about WMD and invaded Iraq. The british media reported it verbatim. Turns out it was a LIE!
Discrepencies in the 9/11 Commission Report that have not been addressed (no I DON'T mean mini nuclear bombs, lasers and earthquake weapons btw) and our own 7/7 Inquiry is a joke. All the different stories over the last few days. He was armed then he wasn't, he hid behind his wife then he didn't , Live cam feed that now didn't happen. A photo showing Obama and his cabinet watching it live. Didn't happen live so what were they watching? Fake pictures.
When you hear that only 12% of news has been checked for accuracy you can't help but feel a disturbed can you?
So why all of a sudden does everybody believe a word of this?
Beats me.
Keep people afraid and they are easier to control.

I'm expecting more draconian legislation to hit the UK soon.

PS. I watched some news footage of the cheering crowds being interviewed outside the Whitehouse> USA, USA etc. One guy even said "We got that [rude word removed], we got Saddam".

Re: AGM Results

I couldn't attend the AGM as I was on a weekend residential course.
I did send my voting paper in though.
I voted NO!
I am surprised that it got through to be honest. :?

Re: new claud butler dalesman

I have a 2008 CB Dalesman.
very happy with it but have replace the Selle Rolls saddle with my old faithful Brooks Flyer.
Will be replacing the Bor Yueh rack with a Tubus when I tour later in the year.

I think for the money £699 it was a bargain.

They are still superb.
Battery life does not seem to have altered at all (still really good).
I think they are outstanding. I use them on the road bike, on the mountain bike, walking the dogs and when working.
Infact they still look like new despite 18 months of wear and even having worn them quite a bit while cutting stone slabs with a chop saw.
The only negative.......forgetting you have them on when talking to someone..... blinded by the lights ....oops sorry.

For the amount of use these kiddies get I think this has been one of the best cycling related purchases I've made.
To summerise....OUTSTANDING !

Re: waterproof trousers

I have had a pair of these for 18mths or so:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=9273

Just recently the stitching started to go in the crotch. so just restitched and applied some good old gaffa tape on the iside and voila good as new.
Worn in heavy rain and snow.
I am 5' 8" and have the medium. The legs have velcro knee and ankle adjusters, pop studs with an extra 2" of trouser leg if required. Also have zipped pockets too.

Will get another pair once these have worn out.
Always wear Ron hills or tracky bottoms underneath as you do sweat in them.

My new bike:

a Claud Butler Dalesman 2008 (it's new and was £300 cheaper than the 2010 version  )

Have changed the Selle Rolls saddle for my trusty Brooks Flyer

Re: Thorn v Dawes Galaxy - Value for money?

If you are interested Bike Shed in Crediton are doing the Claud Butler Dalesman for £699 or so.
They are 2008 Models but have Reynolds 631 frame, Reynolds 520 Fork, Shimano Deore & Tiagra components, mudguards and a rear rack. It is a similar spec to the Dawes Galaxy Plus except the CB has a Bor Yueh alloy rack and the Galaxy has a steel Tubus.

I am really pleased with mine.

Had my Carradice Nelson Long Flap for 4 weeks and I have to say it's bucking frilliant. Can get loads of stuff in it. Weather locally has been [inappropriate word removed] too and it's waterproof. Not using my Topeak rackbag anymore. Might stick it on ebay.
I can see why Carradice have such a good reputation. :)

they should be guaranteed for 10 years (lights anyway).
People in the past who have bust them have had free replacements sent. (from posts on mtbuk & cyclechat)

Very nice lorry driver!

On my ride home tonight I was followed by a large lorry who kept his distance for a good mile or so. Obviously annoyed cars behind him!
At the lights I was in lane to turn right the lorry pulled up on my left. I thanked him for being considerate.
He said "I've seen whats left of a cyclist under a lorry's wheels mate. not a pretty sight. i always give you guys plenty of room."

but them I wondered if it was him who run the cyclist over :shock

Re: Carradice saddle bags

I currently use a Carrera MTB for commuting/mini touring etc.

Have been using a Topeak Trunk Bag (goes with my rear rack) but would like a carradice CLF. I have a Brooks Flyer saddle.
I have seen conflicting measurements for the CLF. Some say it's 30cm (Bike +) high and others say it's 24cm high (Carradice)
I have measured my bike and it is 23cm from my bag loops on my Flyer to my rack.
Would the CLF be an ok fit or should I get the samller NLF. I need extra space so I can get my kickboxing kit, pads, gloves and headguard etc in.

many thanks

MIke
