Re: Thinking of finally giving up on clipless pedals. :-(

One of the best out there is the Ergon pedals from sjscycles.co.uk and elsewhere:-
Ergon PC2 Pedals
Reviews
4 / 5 Road.cc - "Good pedals offering comfort, efficiency and decent grip, but they're only worth the investment for regular and long-term flat pedal users"
Manufacturer: Ergon
SJS Cycles Part Number: 25138L
Manufacturer Part Number: EG48010010
Price £59.99
Description
In the last 100 years, while other components have undergone significant change flat pedals have remained practically the same. It's surprising since pedals provide the point which transfers human power to the bike and ultimately the road. The position of the foot on the pedal influences your efficiency and has consequences for muscle development and joints from hip to toe. The Ergon PC2 is the first non SPD-type pedal to have been designed with the ergonomic demands and the biomechanics of the user in min. The result is impressive. A new type of pedal with features which will increase power and comfort and help avoid aches and pains associated with traditional designs.

Re: CYCLISTS ARE OWN BIGGEST DANGER

My biggest gripe here in Scotland the cycle lanes do not join up or worse exit onto a blind or narrow bit of road. Also find people love to use them as dog toilets and bottle banks!

Re: Nuts, bolts, washers etc for bicycles

Try amazon.co.uk for storage solutions and sjscyles.co.uk do bolts. As for washers buy a box off amazon.co.uk or screwfix.

Re: How Heavy is too Heavy?

My own bike is the weight of two normal road bikes, in fact would say three after getting a new one!!! Mine is one of the stupidly heavy double disc, double suspension mountain bikes made with a an over engineered frame. To solve this problem use Oregon 2-Stroke Chainsaw Oil plus lightweight Halo Combat wheels. Plus have also fitted Shimano Megarange gearing and are now changing to E-Bike tyres. So far have managed at least one higher gear so must be doing something right!

Re: Chain Keeper for Cleaning Chain?

The old fashioned way was to wrap newspaper around the chain then pedal fast backwards whilst leaning the bike against something with a cloth to protect the frame. Can even remember a time when cyclist use to remove the chain and soak it in petrol. For myself use a brush and self cleaning oil - 2 Stroke Oregon Chainsaw Oil which repels the dirt and aye it's a wee bit messy so do not over brush.

sjscycles.co.uk do both KMC and Shimano chains in 116 links so cannot understand your problem.

Kiwi Convertible Trousers from Caghoppers. Have used the standard Kiwi troosers [pants] for many years for cycling.

Re: Which lubricant for my chain?

Think there's nothing to beat 2 Stroke Oregon Chainsaw oil as it's designed to repel grassy matter and wood. All you do is paint it on with a small or narrow paint brush and simply wrap the chain with newspaper and reverse spin the chain to remove any excess. Have found the more you do the less time it needs done.

Re: Looking for winter jacket

For myself got a Location black camouflage jacket from amazon.co.uk for £25. It, s perfect for cycling as it's windproof, waterproof and breathable. Plus is not too long or bulky for cycling. Use a Sam Brown over it to be seen. It even comes with a severe weather balaclava which protects your whole head.

Would say the Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro is probably the closest you would get to the old Panaracer.
