With a traditional Carradice saddle bag on each bike, hubby and I always take hot drinks and these days flask with food. Everything fits in the saddle bag.
Even in summer and “normal” times we often take picnics especially when we out for day rides -50+.miles.

Cugel
Totally agree, sometimes I weep for mine and others grandchildren of this world. Just passed 70 and love life but also very aware of the cost. I’ve lived a fairly frugal life, small house, small car, my bike but others will pay the cost of our lives. We can plead innocence of outcomes for awhile but actually we know now the impact of our consumerist lifestyle.
Maybe, hopefully this pandemic will trigger a more reflective outlook on life beyond the experience.
This morning hubby and I went out cycling at 06:30 to avoid people and such a simple joy to see and hear the natural world waking again, (even if the bird some was seduction or threat noise)
Go well all of you.

Re: What gives energy? What costs energy?
I gain the different types of energy from various activities although I guess they all feed into one. Emotional and mental energy comes from silence and meditation which then feeds into physical energy.
Watching the Welsh rugby team play creates massive adrenaline for me also!
I listen to motivational speakers on YouTube when I need the extra buzz. Reading similar is helpful too.
Sometimes just overriding the lazy procrastinator mind to get out on my bike or get on the turbo is enough to stir up the energy.
Hatha yoga settles me and I find I can go on longer once I just get on the mat.

As an exile from Carmarthenshire thanks for reminding me about Dydd, Santes Dwynwen.
I’d forgotten all about her......found the derelict chapel on Google Earth......ah hiraeth.

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
Hi everyone
I don’t often see many female comments on here but thought I’d add to this long thread.
I’ve cycled for as long as I can remember, my wheels are part of my body I think!
On my 65th birthday I set myself the challenge of cycling 10k miles by my 70th and as if 7th October 2019 I hit 12,250 miles.
At the start of this year I visited some of my teenage haunts and came upon this badge which I’m sure some of you will recognise. It is affixed to the outside wall of an hotel in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. I had forgotten all about it so it was a welcome memory on 4th January this year.
I live in Southampton but frequently return to the growing up places of Carmarthenshire.

Re: Asthma Inhalers
Hi Mick. I was transferred to Fostair about a year ago and it has transformed my control of asthma. I have to take 3x2 puffs a day but that’s fine because it means I don’t need the Ventolin. It’s supposed to give 120 inhalations but I find I get much more than that. I’m happy to have transferred to it as it has helped with cycling enormously. I’ve not had a bad attack all through 2019. Hope it has same effect for you. Yvonne

Hello Cyril Haearn
That’s my normal waking and rising time. Best time for yoga, indoor bike, bit of silence, then coffee and breakfast about 90 minutes later.
Mind you I’m normally in bed by 21:00!

Re: Why Couldnt the Red Brick Wall stand Corbyn?
As a Welsh coal miners daughter with an MA and now a retired headteacher I was shocked yesterday at reading of people who had stood on the picket lines with me in the miners strikes saying they had no choice but to vote for Boris. Of course they had a choice! One woman said she felt a traitor having voted for him and I have to agree. I am horrified and disgusted that a sizeable group in this country seem now to have no morality, will vote for infidelity, lies, subterfuge and manipulation. I
I have been a political creature all my life and now at 70 feel this country has taken a massive step backwards in terms of self respect.

Hi Cugel
Couldn’t agree more about the ‘fairy cakes’. For us it’s most likely to be a thick slice of fruit and nut cake......plenty around now with Christmas on the horizon.

Hi Mike, in answer to your question what’s the 5% non vegan
I’m vegan in everything except on a long ride when the only cake shop we can find is non vegan. Hubby is vegan at home but eats fish or meat when out for a sit down meal. Hope this clarifies for you.
