Re: Spoke length calculators; a mixed bag...

Exactly, an important point, and more important than which calculator (not much difference anyway).
Just ansered a phone call from a buddy who ordered Chinese rims and already found out after 5 minutes that his spokes were 20 mm too short.
The specified ERD was 20 mm shorter than the actual.....

Re: Ti Audax frame recommendations...

The reason for that is that weight is a simple number , easy to check fot anyone with a scale. All the other and for the most part far more important/interesting properties are not so simple to quantify.... Once on the bike it's where the human "software" takes over and fills the forums on...

Re: Bottom Bracket for a Campag Chorus Triple chainset (2006 year).

You need a Chorus or Record triple (111) bottom bracket. Not a Centaur or Veloce etc. The Chorus and Record are asymmetrical whereas the others are symmetrical. Those are the descriptions from the Campag bottom bracket fitting instructions I have. Campagnolo can tell what they want , I do what I wa...

Re: Ti Audax frame recommendations...

I'm very much aware of the seat angle (which is is good for many people) and the fact that it shortens the actual reach. Makes the reach of the 52 cm model more/less equal to a frame with 55 cm top tube and more normal 73,5 degree seat angle. 55 cm is stlll pretty long for a 52 cm frame with 115 hea...

Re: Ti Audax frame recommendations...

Well, I think Colin's personal preferences spoiled the thing for me. :( Cannot see how a 1.70 m person (and there are slill lots of them who like cycling) ever can fit properly on a 52 cm Spa Audax TI.... Weight distribution will be too far on the rear due to the long reach, a short stem does'nt cha...

Re: Ti Audax frame recommendations...

Can somebody explain the really stupidly long top tube/ low head tube combinations of the Spa Audax TI frames? I'm 1.80 with normal leg lenght and a bit short arms and could'nt ride any size with a 100 mm+ stem ....not to mention a flipped stem and 40 mm spacer tower.... Even included the moderate s...

Re: Front disc brake with dropouts

Properly desiged frames overcome the problem by having the dropouts facing forward so the wheel axle is forced into them rather than out of under braking  Pr0perly designed brakes and forks have the brake caliper on the front of the fork. More then 20 years ago Jobst Brand discussed this in o...

Re: Campagnolo 8 speed. Tight fit.

8 Speed on 126 mm spacing is not a sensible thing to do, unless with a very large cog which leans over 4 mm to the spoke side.
There is a reason why this became 130 mm with the introduction of 8 speed.

I would bin a non-working Shimano freehub.
Not worth the trouble of taking it apart and messing with tiny pawls and bearing balls.
