Re: IPhone Software Update - Now A Charger Is A Disallowed Accessory?

I've not had a problem with chargers, but my cheap Chinese bluetooth earphones, which used to work perfectly, stopped working with my iPhone and iPad a couple of updates ago....they were actually super cheap as my son GAVE me them !!

Curiously they still work fine with the MacBook.

Re: Helmet with visor.

Once again, thank you all for the replies, advice and the links. The helmet with visor seed was sown when I saw Mark Beaumont use one on his RTW/80 days jaunt...a fancy looking 'Rudy' job at well over 200 quid !! I'm from a motorcycling background and I have ridden behind visors for nearly fifty yea...

Re: Helmet with visor.

As 'tatanab' pointed out, I'm looking for a helmet with a visor as in a visor that comes down in front of your eyes, not just a peak.

Many thanks for all the replies so far-very much appreciated.

Helmet with visor.

Has anyone here had any experience of cycling helmets that incorporate a visor?

I fancy one as I wear glasses and can't really wear cycling glasses....and I'm not going down the prescription route.

Helmet with visor, any recommendations ??

Thank you.

Re: Getting Saddle Fixed by Brooks - Any Comments

A couple of years ago I had two B17s repaired by Brooks. Both of them had snapped adjuster pins and cracked noses (careless or what ??) I emailed Brooks for a quote to repair them and they quoted £22.50 each (including all parts and return postage) I went ahead and had them repaired and they were re...

Re: cycling and ageing

A friends adult son goes to the gym every day by car - it's less than half a mile away, you can nearly see it from the house. Suggest he walks and you get a 'you can't be serious' look. ! Just like my mate. He drives to the gym (one mile) and then gets straight onto a walking machine !....I've aske...

Re: Should I convert to a Rohloff hub - costs vs benefits ?

Yes you are missing something. There are various types of eccentric bottom bracket that you use in place of traditional external BB bearing shells or sealed cartridge type BB. These eccentric BB have movement in their cups and locking grub screws. You have to use a HollowTech 2 or similar chain set...

Ivor Tingting wrote:Btw you can fit a Rohloff to an LHT without fitting a chain tensioner by using an eccentric bottom bracket to adjust chain tension.

Really ??....LHT doesn't have an EBB shell. Am I missing something ??

Disc Trucker frame does have an anchor point for Rohloff OEM2 axel plate though.

Re: Why the sudden urge to ride bikes on gravel?

As kids in the 1960's, me and my mates had a mountain bikes before mountain bikes were invented. Cow horn handle bars and knobbly tyres... very capable heaps on the muck.

We called them 'bikes'....I guess that we had never heard of 'marketing'....

Re: Total Mass For UCI Races.

In motorcycle Grand Prix racing the Moto3 class has a minimum rider/bike combined weight regulation (148 KG). The class is designed to attract the younger riders, some of them are tiny schoolboy/schoolgirl types who look like they should be out delivering papers not riding 150 MPH Grand Prix bikes. ...

Re: Should I convert to a Rohloff hub - costs vs benefits ?

For those of you that aren't aware, have a quick look at the price/quantity. I accept that it hardly breaks the bank, but how can a scratty bit of oil for a push bike hub cost so much ?? Annual oil change. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tools/rohloff-2-stage-oil-change-fluids-only-for-rohloff-speedhub...

Re: Should I convert to a Rohloff hub - costs vs benefits ?

After eleven years of faultless service, a thimble-full of gobsmackingly expensive oil every year and a new sprocket when required.......for me the Rohloff choice was a sound one Rob ...fixed that for yer Rob...... Well it is if you compare the price per litre with other oils , but the co...
