Cycleur de luxe shoes

I really love my Cycleur de luxe shoes I bought as a distress purchase at a retro Ronde event a few years ago. Sadly they are reaching the end of their useful life. Their current 'crash' version appear to be closest to my current pair (unfortunate name that). Does anyone know of a UK source of these...

Re: Velocity Atlas touring rims

The tyres are run at 50 PSI so I would not have thought that would be the problem.

I can't do a photo as the bike is in the bike shop.

Re: Velocity Atlas touring rims

Because I wanted 650B size? because I wanted different aesthetics?

Back to the question. Anyone used these and have experience of their longevity?

Velocity Atlas touring rims

Anyone used these and have experience of their longevity? https://www.velocityusa.com/product/rims/atlas-584 I hade some made up in 650b size on a custom frame build up and have probably done no more than 600 miles. The shop that built the frame/wheels/bike build are doing a service prior to me star...

Re: Net tax contribution

[quoteLike many things I suspect this raises the question as to how the numbers are counted. At the moment I will be a net drain as I have three kids in school (costing the taxpayer approx 15k) but in in 30 years I will have three kids earning and contributing; vs my DINKY friends who claim nothing ...

Re: Why has the nozzle on my Camelbak bottle turned pink?

Probably this, the same cause of the pink films found in bathrooms:

Re: Fatbergs. [ Enjoy your dinner :) ]

Grill over the sewerage outflow from your house should do it. Suitable items would break up and flow through the grill. Unsuitable items will be trapped on YOUR premises and resulting fatberg becomes your responsibility to clear. Simple.

Re: Back peddling brake

I suspect it is no more than your unfamiliarity with that type of brake. One of my bikes (that I made the frame for myself from 853 tubing) has a SA duomatic hub with back pedal brake. Yes it takes some readjustment initially when riding, yes I have to be careful to stop with the cranks in the posit...

Re: Should I sell my Mercian?

I think point a) above only applies if you qualify by saying "does well". 250 off road touring miles on a 2 speed sit up a and beg town bike anyone?

Most bikes are able to do most things but some bikes do some things better than others. I do have 4 bikes to choose from though.

Re: Atenolol?

My day job is a hospital clinical pharmacist. Atenolol is not a drug that requires a statutory drowsiness warning. If asking the question from the perspective of "does use of this medicine make the driver more at fault in the case of a RTA?" I very much doubt it.

Re: Diamox/Acetazolamide "Source"

No reputable medical provider will provide you with a prescription without review. That means: 1) see you GP 2) pay the fee for your phone consultation 3) take the time to go to the travel clinic Just because the medication is 'cheap' does not mean it is safe for you to use without assessment (unles...

Re: Diamox/Acetazolamide "Source"

You don't say why you want them so it is difficult for any medical members on here to offer advice on whether your GP would/should consider giving you a prescription (it is a prescription only medication). I have had friends prescribed them for high altitude trips in the past. If unwilling to see yo...
