Re: Fatbergs. [ Enjoy your dinner :) ]

Grill over the sewerage outflow from your house should do it. Suitable items would break up and flow through the grill. Unsuitable items will be trapped on YOUR premises and resulting fatberg becomes your responsibility to clear. Simple.

Re: Back peddling brake

I suspect it is no more than your unfamiliarity with that type of brake. One of my bikes (that I made the frame for myself from 853 tubing) has a SA duomatic hub with back pedal brake. Yes it takes some readjustment initially when riding, yes I have to be careful to stop with the cranks in the posit...

Re: Should I sell my Mercian?

I think point a) above only applies if you qualify by saying "does well". 250 off road touring miles on a 2 speed sit up a and beg town bike anyone?

Most bikes are able to do most things but some bikes do some things better than others. I do have 4 bikes to choose from though.

Re: Atenolol?

My day job is a hospital clinical pharmacist. Atenolol is not a drug that requires a statutory drowsiness warning. If asking the question from the perspective of "does use of this medicine make the driver more at fault in the case of a RTA?" I very much doubt it.

Re: Diamox/Acetazolamide "Source"

No reputable medical provider will provide you with a prescription without review. That means: 1) see you GP 2) pay the fee for your phone consultation 3) take the time to go to the travel clinic Just because the medication is 'cheap' does not mean it is safe for you to use without assessment (unles...

Re: Diamox/Acetazolamide "Source"

You don't say why you want them so it is difficult for any medical members on here to offer advice on whether your GP would/should consider giving you a prescription (it is a prescription only medication). I have had friends prescribed them for high altitude trips in the past. If unwilling to see yo...

Re: Ridgeback hybrids and their potential

Yes, I got a few odd looks when I turned up to do the 'Telford toothpaste' sportive in mine. Surprised a few people with its abilities though in the end.

Re: Any cycle-related photos taken recently (no bikes allowed)?

November 1918 was the armistice I.e. Ceasefire. The actual end of hostilities was only agreed in 1919.

Re: Ridgeback hybrids and their potential

The ridgeback hybrid I bought 8 years ago has commuted 80-100 miles a week since year round in all weathers. Had front low rider and rear pannier racks added and carried far too much weight on a 500 mile two week tour. Ridden up and down the Shropshire Union canal (the rough bits) a number of times....

Re: 125/6 hub in 130mm frame

Set up of friction. I can just about do that. The plan would be to build up a new frame with new bits and use it for 'best' I.e. Very occasionally.

125/6 hub in 130mm frame

In a post sure to strike fear in to Pete Bird's heart at Bicycle by design who is well aware of my past form of using inappropriate bicycle part in ways they were not designed... How 'do-able' is using a 125 or 126mm hub + spacers in a frame with 130mm spaced drop outs? 'Do-able'' and producing a wo...

Re: Please Report Any Security Check Problems When Boarding Ferries ex UK

It was in my luggage, inside my cooking set, under my tea towel. It took some finding after I stupidly said yes to having a knife.
