Re: Track bike steerer tube bearings

It was #3, when I first got the bike I took a spacer off and turns out that caused the issue, I've put the spacer back and there's no movement at all. It looks like the steerer tube was trimmed down so it was not quite factory-spec.

Thanks so much for your response, I really appreciate you taking the time to post it and help me out.

Track bike steerer tube bearings

Hello

I have a Holdsworth Roi De Velo track bike. There is a tiny bit of play in the steerer tube so I had a bit of a poke around to see what's what. At the stop of the steerer tube all seems good (attached image: top) , there are bearings with a compression ring though there are weird aero stem things that I'm going to replace (attached image: aero) . Anyway, it all looks sturdy and correct.

However, at the bottom end, it looks a bit odd (attached image: bottom). The only thing there is the bearing, there's no compression ring or anything and it just doesn't look right, the stright internal edges of the bearing at against a tapered steered tube. I can't find exact specs of the bike describing exactly which parts are used / should be there but I can't find it, all I can find is a relatively equivilant bike from the same manufacturer which specifies the following parts..

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/HSSSELC18 ... rk-steerer

I'm just a bit puzzled though, I think what I'm expecting is more than just a bearing there, after looks of Googling perhaps it's a "crown race" but it's a tapered steerer tube so is that correct?

I know I'm sounding vague but I'm just a bit stuck and want my bike to be exactly right s opposed to a bit dodgy.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Evans - CTC 10% plus Trade-In

Hello all

I'm just about to buy two bikes from Evans and was wondering if anyone has tried doing the trade-in PLUS the CTC 10% off. Seems a bit cheeky but a real money-saver.

Cheers
Ben
