Cycling Scotland???

I do agree that we should rebrand and have a name that reflects who we already are. However there is one problem that I see ( I hope I haven't missed the answer ) and that is that we used to have CTC Scotland up here, but that will presumably have changed? But we already have Cycling Scotland who ar...

Pumping-up KMX tyres

Hi, I have just finished fixing my friend's KMX. I had a big problem - it was impossible to get a pump onto the valves on the front wheel. However I found this on SJS cycles' website! : http://www.topeak.com/products/Pumps/Pressure-Rite. It is a screw on attachment for car size valves which bends 90...

Valve stems breaking from tube.

Hi, does any one know why so many stems are breaking off form their tubes? I have had many more flat tyres due to this than 'normal' punctures recently :o . Maybe someone has a fix to stop this happening or to fix the broken ones. I think it was Mark Beaumont who said that if you attach the nut on t...

Re: Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting

Once again thank you for your contributions, I can now confirm that the inner's nipple came loose. I brought my bike to Leslie Bike shop in Glenrothes and got it fixed within a few hours, I can highly recommend this bike shop for those living in Fife (Scotland). There is now a new gear cable in. I'm...

Thanks for your thoughts, When I get it checked I will see what is wrong because they are tricky parts - I can't trust myself enough sadly!!!

Re: Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting

If when you pull an exposed section of the cable sideways it changes gear, that suggests to me the cable is fine (otherwise it would pull out from the shifter end, so it must be unbroken and firmly connected at the shifter). The specifications show a 9-speed bike but you say yours is 8-speed. Check...

Re: Drivers on Phones - What Can we do ?

It would be great if CTC would add the function on their Fill that hole app for Cars parked on pavements and drivers on phones. I cant believe people text whilst driving, but to be totally honest some idiotic cyclists are doing this too. Can't wait to get the batch of photos of mine sent of to counc...

Re: Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting

I think the cable was replaced when I had it serviced last month so mabye I should just go back to the shop, but thanks anyway I'll give that a go with the WD40.

Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting

Hi, I've had my Raleigh RX Elite for 3/4 year now and it is my perfect match. Sadly today whilst re setting the brakes (routine maintenance) the rear gears (8 speed) wouldn't shift. I think it might be something inside the shifter. To clear things up it is only the gear function,(BRAKES ARE WORKING ...

Moving house with a bike

Hi, Does any one have any good advice on how to move to the continent with a bike. My brother in september will have finished school and plans to work in Germany for a year. He plans on getting the Megabus from Edinburgh to Colonge (köln) and get the train from there to the south West (Stutgart area...

Re: Bottle dynamo placement. Am I mad?

I am hub dynamos all the way and would say the SON Deluxe is fab but if it can't fit with the axle then B&M isn't too far off.

Re: Tandem brake upgade - a good idea?

We use V-brakes front and back they seem to last on the other hand Disks are not an option (we don't have mounts on our orbit!).
Disks give more controllable breaking but there is is always the over heating problem...
