Re: 2nd leg......finally

Hey Cycleruk! I've looked online and cannot pinpoint Romany Caravan. Can you be more specific? And the pub? Is it in Rogart?
Cheers

2nd leg......finally

So - I completed LE to Manchester 2(!) years ago and am now ready for M/CR to JoG. Full disclosure....my mama has since moved to Wigan, so it'll be Wigan to JoG, with no compulsion whatsoever to ride the M/CR to Wigan section. With full thanks to this forum, I will be going in Sept, yes, I know it's...

Which best month for Scotland?

Hi there - I'm completing my second leg of LeJog - Manchester to JOG this summer. I am flexible on my dates, so ask what you all would consider the best month for this.
Also, someone mentioned a hostel that is old train carriages in Bonnie Scotland - is that still in operation?
Thanks
Helen

Re: Cheltenham to Wedmore

Thank you all for your generous replies. Lots to think about now. There are soo many roads in UK! When I toured around USA, I ripped pages out of a regular scale road map and jumped on my bike and left! I discovered The Swan Inn in Wedmore for breakfast on last year's LeJog and the whole point of th...

Re: Ibis budget

Although I do not have a response per se, I want to tell you of my experience in USA. I cycled for quite a few miles on a trip, and was initially amazed about the casual response re: bikes in the rooms. Eventually ( there are many hours of reflection whilst cycling 1600 miles) I realised that the im...

Cheltenham to Wedmore

Hi there I would love to ride thru The Cotswolds to get to Wedmore - spending the night half way - Old Sodbury? Maybe? I don't know how hilly it is, but it doesn't matter, after cycling thru Devon and Cornwall on my LeJog last year - I ain't afraid of no hills!! Does anyone have any advice? Thanks H...

Re: Finished 1st Leg - LE to Manchester

When is episode 2? Arrgghhh - you had to ask!!! A decent amount of time from work and money are issues, so sadly it might be same time next year. However, I'm trying to squeeze in a Manchester to Edinburgh leg this September as I now have the cycling bug and don't want to wait 11 months, plus I'm b...

Re: JOGLE next summer, early thoughts...

However, I've been told that attempting a solo E2E is an extremely difficult undertaking. Extremely difficult undertaking??? Everyone has different opinions about everything, but please don't take this as gospel! I personally love solo riding and have done all my long rides alone. I'll let you know...

Re: Glasgow or Edinburgh?

[quote="nickpaton"]Just back from LEJOG via Ardrossen, onto Arran at Brodick and off again14 miles later at Lochranza (to Claonaig on mainland) - absolutely recommended. Rather than giving lots of superlatives, route details etc, have a look at the relevant page 'Three Ferries and the Witc...

Re: Glasgow or Edinburgh?

Edinburgh, just ride through the city, it's easy enough, much easier than Glasgow. Otherwise go up between both cities via Biggar, Bathgate etc, to the Forth road bridge. That's very good to know, especially as another thought I have is to do a Man - Edinburgh leg and take the Caledonian Sleeper ba...

Arran! What a wonderful plan. Why didn't I think of that? My brain gets frazzled with this route planning - I love this idea - thank you so much.

Glasgow or Edinburgh?

I'm struggling as to which major city to go thru. Actually, I'll be circling around the outskirts, but you get the gist.
I'll be coming from Carlisle, aiming for Inverness.
Does anyone have any pointers for me?
Cheers
Helen
