Re: Touring on a Roadrat

I have tried to contact him via Fb but as yet no reply.
Most of what I can find on internet is about the older rim braked version
Want to know if latest ones any better.

Spa Cycles steel Audax - any reason not to?

Think I'm going to get the steel version of the Spa Cycles Audax. The plan is to then throw on most of a 105 groupset and then sort some wheels out (that's a question for another day) I briefly looked at other "audax" bikes....... ....Singular Osprey - 1" steerer :( Hewitt Chiltern - ...

Touring on a Roadrat

Does anyone tour on a Cotic Roadrat?
Or are they too flexible as I've heard?

Only talking 2 Super C's reasonably full.

Re: Recommend me a pair of panniers.

I like the traditional look of super c's but have read elsewhere on this forum of mounting issues with the tortec epic rack which is the one I use.

Re: Which commuter?

karlt the 40min ride was nearly all in to be honest and it doesn't feel flat to me but isn't over the Pennines.
Commute is presently done on a hybrid with 35mm Voyager Hypers which I have found are only 35g heavier than 28 gatorskins so I might change the goal posts.

Recommend me a pair of panniers.

I'm after a new pair of panniers. :) Presently I use a cheap unbranded pair of waterproof front panniers with a combined capacity of 20L. Unfortunately after about 8 years of (ab)use they are no longer waterproof and last wet ride left an approx 100ml puddle in the bottom. :( As they cost £10 out of...

Altura Ultralight Panniers

Anyone using the above panniers?

Mainly road but might go canal towpath or unmade track ocaisionally for a change.
12 mile commute normally takes between 40 and 45 mins at present.

Re: What constitutes light touring?

My set up is 2 front panniers, on the rear, of about 15L, my list Iis a bit shorter than al_yrpal's. 2 dry bags 8L and 5L with sleeping bag and camp mat on top of the rack and my 2kg tent strapped to the handlebars. Or I can throw the whole lot in 2 Super C rears. The frames I was looking at are the...

What constitutes light touring?

What weight of cycle touring kit means I should buy a tourer rather than an audax bike?
Should my own weight be taken into account?
Also does being "vertically challenged" and having a smaller, less flexy frame make a difference?

Re: Which commuter?

Not set a budget, I've got an idea of what I'm gonna build but just thought I'd ask in case I'm over looking a good alternative, even alternative type of bike.

Which commuter?

Looking for a commuter bike.
The commute is 16 to 20 miles to work and 12 miles home.
I want 28mm tyres and full mudguards, it will end up with flat bars.
And comfort is slightly more important than speed but only just.

Any suggestions?
