Re: Sturmey Archer 5 speed hub
If it will work in a 3 speed hub, that should be a problem, always see them at the Jumbles, can get one as a fallback

Sturmey Archer 5 speed hub
Does anybody recognise which model of hub this is. I was hoping to find a model number, or at least the year of manufacture stamped on the hub, but all there is, is this label

Re: Sturmey Archer 5 Star Hub Gear
Don’t suppose you have any idea as to what the right length might be, can’t believe the number of variations out there

Sturmey Archer 5 Star Hub Gear
I have just got hold of a NOS hub, which comes with a technical spec, which is a bonus. It list all the part numbers which I hoped would help me get hold of the correct indicators/toggle chains. It lists the left side as HSA453 and the right as HSA316 which is great, but then I found an addendum to the spec. It says that’s as from 91/1 onwards it is different, mine is 92/06 and it says I need an unmarked Thin Gold Passivate on the left and a MK4 on the right. I can find the MK4, but they are all colour folded and Icant find any reference to a Thin Gold one
Anybody got any ideas what I need?

Harry Quinn track frame
I have a 1977 HQ track frame that I run on 700x23 clinchers on fixed wheel. The rear wheel is a perfect fit although it is not drilled for a rear brake. The problem is the front wheel. It is drilled for a brake, but the 700x23 rubs under the top of the forks. The front drop outs are very long, longer than needed, which allows the wheels to hit the top of the forks. Is there anything that can fit into the drop outs to reduce the length. Really don’t fancy having to ride on sprints

Re: Track Frame
Hi,
This is a 1977 HQ and sounds very similar to the frame you are describing, I am going to spend some time on it at the weekend. The front fork is drilled for a brake, but I am not sure you could fit a brake and have any clearance. The rear brake bridge is far to small to be drilled, which is fine as I have only ever ridden with one brake on a fixed wheel set up

Track Frame
I have a Harry Quinn track frame, it doesn’t have mudguard eyes or drilling on the rear brake bridge to accommodate a mudguard. I am assuming from this that it has been built as a track frame and not a road/path frame. Does anybody know if it would be possible to run 700x23 on a track frame?
