Re: Full suspension e-bike

Look at rad bikes, can get step thru, folding and fat bikes for under £1700 all got room for potential upgrades, lots of facebook groups on them and youtube reviews all pretty favourable.

thelawnet wrote:There is a massive shortage of bikes here in Indonesia. The local export manufacturer (Polygon) is prioritising its Australian export market, and local bikes are being sold 20-30% above retail whereas 10% below is normal, and there's a queue of several months for new bike and scalpers stripping them for parts. The Polygon bike shop had not one single adult bike available for sale when I went in there a few weeks ago, even chains were sold out. More demand for bikes locally.

As far as I know the Polygon factory would not have closed, frames, tyres, small parts, are made in Indonesia probably better derailleurs from Malaysia, the junk Shimano ones I believe are made in Indonesia. Don't think China too involved.

The government just put out a new regulation banning the import of bikes without permit, aimed largely at Bromptons, because the local rich don't care about price at all, and are going mad (so informal bike imports rose 70% in the space of month) buying Bromptons at more than double the UK retail price, Moultons which they dump in the river, because why not?

Not sure why the rich like Bromptons so much as they are basically completely useless here, but I think it's a name badge thing. Can't imagine they have any conception of getting on a train wedged between fat men in suits, unfolding a bike and then cycling it to work and sticking it under the desk.

It's such a craze importing Bromptons and making ludicrous profits that every man, woman and their cat who can seems to be getting involved.

I just acquired 2 old mk3 Moultons and been inundated by buyers from Indonesia wanting them off me, nice investments after i do them up i think.

Try Facebook, plenty Moulton groups on there and all enthusiasts, you will get a genuine price of what its worth and if anyone buys it you save all the ebay sellers fee crap to boot.

Re: Moulton TSR 9 - BB size ?

My mk2 Major is currently having a revamp with modern bits, just wheels to get built next when the money tree starts to flower in the garden.

Re: New Moulton Cone

Been shown at the annual Moulton bike weekend this week and is a 9 speed sst framed bike which will be under 2k new and has the bits in place to upgrade later on with front mech mounts on already, looks a good way to get the better sst frame!

Re: Tell me about… minivelos

Cannondale hooligan is popular also i own a xootr swift folder, never used the folding mech but know its there if needed, hundreds of pages on this on U.S forums and parts are easily swapped to turn it however you want it, only downside is a 34mm seatpost so i imported a specific cane creek thudbuster from the states and its very strong, no flex city weapon, still get them on ebay for around £650 new.

Re: Moulton SST -- reasons (not) to buy?

Still reckon it will be a 3k bike, it will have stem and bar options and also brand of gears n cranks, i would prefer they brought out a cheaper painted m60 with derrailluers or igh hub option, i would love a modern version of my 2 f frames but with modern gear as standard, the flyte does nothing for me.

Mick you may want to join the various UK Moulton groups on Facebook as your more likely to get a quicker response than the Moultonbuzz pages which are way behind the times, you will find folk who build them and write books on them in the groups even on my F frame group, someone will know the craic and respond quickly on any topic.

Re: Moulton SST -- reasons (not) to buy?

I have seen the sst next to a tsr in the shop in York last summer, loved the Sst it just looked nicer, i wanted one ever since with the igh hub but still have 2 f frames to finish, a nice folder there that could really be made into a weapon, xootr swift, the new xtb is 3.5k and the flyte expected to be around 3k, options of flat or drop bars, possible seperable version might come out in the future!
Regarding front disks, anyone tried a pacific reach? Its more what i would expect the Moulton to evolve into as it has polymer suspension with short travel and disk brakes all round for less than sst money.
