Re: Woodrup cycles

Wouldn't be the first place I'd think of for accessories and clothing, but they've been building well regarded custom frames for decades.

Re: Hub dynamo comparison

Flange spacing on the SP is somewhat narrow at 50mm versus 62mm for Schmidt. Hence the wheel may not be as resistant to side loading, which may or may not bother you. It could be an issue, but the one Mick mentions appears to be 60mm http://www.sp-dynamo.com/8seriesdynamo%20hub.html Whoops, read th...

Re: Pictures of your tents.

I'm new to this concept of taking photos to show off your tent. It's just a place to pass the night. May help a discussion with other people regarding some features/likes-dislikes/pitching options/etc.? Forums are about discussion and exchange of ideas, not just "showing off" :D Is that w...

Re: Anyone toured near Chamonix?

The problem isn't the lack of knowledge about the Alps on this forum but rather the narrowly focused nature of your queries. If you search for the Alps, rather than specifically Annecy or Chamonix, you will find dozens of threads over the years. In one of your previous threads, I vaguely recall you ...

Re: A Holland-touring newbie seeks wisdom...

Thank you, all, very much. Some really helpful insights there. I was completely oblivious to the possibility of causing offence by calling it 'Holland'! I wonder how and why the name associated with just two provinces became so widely used when referring the whole country... But I shall avoid that ...

Re: A Holland-touring newbie seeks wisdom...

I'm not a Holland expert especially as I don't speak the language, but I did that route about ten years ago, and I enjoyed it. Can't advise on current status though. The ride across the Afsluitdijk felt interminable. There's some monument halfway across that seemed to be a pilgrimage site for the Du...

Re: Securing bikes in the back of a (big) car.

I can get two road bikes or two MTBs or a road bike and an MTB, upright or upside down, and only needing to remove the front wheels, into the back of my Jazz. :D

Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

Let it run forever. It's not just for the benefit of us cyclists. It also provides the retailer with feedback. Spa has gone through some rough patches. I like to think some of the negative feedback they've had over the years has helped them improve their customer service.

Re: Pictures of your tents.

I get that Pete. It's just a means to an end.
Stunning photos, btw. The second one (somewhere in Scotland?) reminds me of that dreamy 2-parter on the Beeb with the chappie who rowed a currach up the West Coast of Ireland.
Hah, just spotted the two open entrances on the tent (Kaitum?). Nice one. :)

Re: Pictures of your tents.

Never thought about taking a photo of my tent before seeing this thread, but here's a couple that sort of show my Helsport Borgefjell SL. Not a place you'd cycle to, but a nice spot -- Loch Coruisk before climbing the Dubh Ridge. First time posting a piccie here so bear with me. The Helsport is the ...

Re: Advice required on choice of 2/3 person lightweight tent

Pete, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Hilleberg use some PU coating for the floors and doesn't that go icky too? Or are their floors just silicone coated? The PU coated groundsheet of the Quasar that I lost to a sticky outer was unaffected. I understand that it's being stored for long periods ...
