Re: Navigation - Garmin

I went through a similar decision process recently a day was swaying towards the phone idea (funnily enough a Sony as well due to good battery life or iPhone as they have a better selection of bike specific cases) After a bit of humming an aweing I went with the dedicated unit, it does what it's des...

Re: 36hole rims, what happened?

Yes I used them to build up a set of wheels on a Alfine8 hub for my..... ECR :o) They built up well have been strong so far, they are a touch heavier than most other rims but that isn't an issue for me and have been bullet proof, used the ECR off and on road, an since they are a bit narrower than t...

Re: Tow Bar Racks vs Roof racks - which is best?

Regarding some of your points All modern tow bar racks should have integrated lights, so helps there Number plates aren't expensive to get Electrics again a modern tow bar will have 13 point plug which is the modern standard the older 6? Point is still about and you can get converters or new plugs a...

Re: Lochs and Glens North

Wouldn't worry about it, since your not camping and by the sounds of it will be generally moving, this will keep them off you. Re: High cadence for speed

I used to go out with a few guys, on the road bikes, we were all at roughly the same fitness, but I used the high cadence style (>90rpm) while the others were at slower cadences an I always felt I had more to spare could take a quick sprint or spin up a hill quicker and have quicker recovery times e...

Re: Stop Line Bandits : What to do?

I normally do NOT make eye contact because .. The rules are clear enough, there is no need to "communicate". In Germany it sometimes helps to shout, "wer hat Vorfahrt?" (who has priority?). But do any drivers actually stop and apply the handbrake? Should one trust a single one o...

Re: Stop Line Bandits : What to do?

These are not bandits or highwaymen, they are terrorists. My tip: do NOT make eye contact because it is usually understood as a challenge. In many cases one can hold out ones hand to signify stop/wait hiding ones face so that eye contact is not possible. Then, I suspect, the terrorists think I am u...
