A house full of giggles is more fun than a bikepacking trip any day. There is always another trip.
Maybe we should arrange a wimps bikepacking coast to coast.

I'm doing the shorter route of 824 miles ... probably of the maximum 14 days allowed .... possibly not a race in my case ...but an adventure. Yes, the "Party" ... so the super triathletes are going to wait around for the old guys to turn up 7 days later .... Swiss cheese comes to mind ......

Great, what could go wrong??? So are you thinking, credit card / B&B or full monty bike packing / camping??? Bike packing / camping ... spent an awful lot of time under polyester ... and without the support of Julie and Hattie the camper van ... i'd rather have the ability to stop when I want, ...

Re: Please suggest a good 1-person tent

I've had a Vango Blade 100 one man tent for 4 years and it's been a great tent for cycle touring. Only 1.5kg. The beauty of this tent is that it has a single pole that runs lengthways so you get decent height, enough to sit up. Plus it has a porch. They don't make it any more but you may be able to...

Great result. Those 900ish miles of training obviously helped. But the important question is....Did you wake up with a hangover?

It was a lovely ride. Scenery was fantastic. The climbs might have been a bit easier if I wasn’t lugging 12kg of kit.

It might be a problem trying to find a Wimps route around it though!

Re: Question on tarps and bivvys

Get a hopped bivvy with a sewn in net to keep the critters out. I use an Outdoor Research Helium. I use s tarp for protection from rain and dew. It can either be tied between trees or tied over the bike using 2 small poles. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180911/cf99cc34ad3883b2823118c36d7d78c1.j...

Are you posting progress reports anywhere??? I just want to make sure all that extra training we enabled you to get is going to be put to good use...... :? Sorry, I missed your post. I will post updates on Facebook as and when I can find a signal. I think I have found the polar opposite of our Wimp...

I leave Turin on 3rd September. Hoping to finish a week later but will see how my legs cope. I then have another week in Nice to relax afterwards.

Unless he pedaled all the way there, I'd say no!

In this case it could be Pete and his youthful 61 years. Only on a Fixie can we be sure that someone pedalled all the way. [emoji6]
