Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Even carrying a tent, sleeping bag, mat, toiletries, clothes, etc alters the ride a lot. I’ve done little rides loaded up, I’m not sure I’d want to do it for 3 weeks, but that’s because I like to ride with as little extra weight as possible..but I think your point on getting a driver for 3 weeks is...

Record attempt scheduled

Going through Berridale won’t help her schedule. Fingers crossed she can do it.

Sadly I can’t get 3 weeks away from work. I did this year but it caused some uproar. I will try to join you for a week or some weekends.

Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Hang on lads. I've just had a great idea...... So I'm actually picking up a geared Surly Ogre on Friday and am thinking of riding coast to coast France, mainly off road, self supported sounds like a plan (obviously if anyone's close enough please feel free to come round and slap me). I only thought...

I have a bikepacking tent even smaller than Nick’s. Who even knew that was possible.
I like Wimps-The comeback.
I will work on Cally, I’ve got a spare bike she can use [emoji1787]

I could be tempted to ride the opposite route. Inland via Altnaharra would be s preference. We drove home that way and it was very rural, although not the best road surface.
I may not be able to convince the designated driver to do it again so might have to camp.

A house full of giggles is more fun than a bikepacking trip any day. There is always another trip.
Maybe we should arrange a wimps bikepacking coast to coast.

I'm doing the shorter route of 824 miles ... probably of the maximum 14 days allowed .... possibly not a race in my case ...but an adventure. Yes, the "Party" ... so the super triathletes are going to wait around for the old guys to turn up 7 days later .... Swiss cheese comes to mind ......

Great, what could go wrong??? So are you thinking, credit card / B&B or full monty bike packing / camping??? Bike packing / camping ... spent an awful lot of time under polyester ... and without the support of Julie and Hattie the camper van ... i'd rather have the ability to stop when I want, ...

Re: Please suggest a good 1-person tent

I've had a Vango Blade 100 one man tent for 4 years and it's been a great tent for cycle touring. Only 1.5kg. The beauty of this tent is that it has a single pole that runs lengthways so you get decent height, enough to sit up. Plus it has a porch. They don't make it any more but you may be able to...

Great result. Those 900ish miles of training obviously helped. But the important question is....Did you wake up with a hangover?
