Cycling in Andalucia

Planning a 3 week trip from mid-April: any recommendations/hints and tips? We've heard about Semana Santa, but other insights and recommendations would be useful
thanks ;-)

Beeswax cream for sore feet

I'm sure I've previously seen this advertised in 'Cycle' but can't find the ad now. Has anyone used it for cracked feet that live in sandals all summer? Please pass me the company details if you have them.
thanks

wooden pedal-free child's bike

Can anyone advise whether they're worth having, and where I can get one of these 'scoot-along' type bikes, for my nearly-4 yr old granddaughter
thanks

Re: Cycling N.Spain to St Malo advice wanted

We put our bikes on the train for the more industrial part of the route between Santander and the French border. Hubbie would have to stay on his moped tho!

Good news re CTC shop from Wiggle

After a few days communication with Wiggle I've received the following:
We have just updated the CTC site so that UK delivery is free with no minimum spend threshold.

Postage was originally charged in alignment with the previous model of the CTC Shop. In running the CTC shop we offer a discount to members as well as paying a contribution to the CTC to support the organisation. For this reason it is difficult to provide a better deal (with discount and postage) compared to the previous shop. However, as our mantra is to put the customers first, and above everything else provide a fantastic service that you would be proud to tell your friends about, we have made the decision to offer free UK standard delivery to all CTC members, on top of your 10% discount.

We apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused during the launch of the new shop. We are really excited about the CTC shop moving forward. We will be making many improvements in the future with more tailored brands and products appearing shortly and we have also just added a range of CTC accessories such as badges and polo shirts.

Please feel free to pass this email on to other members and the forum.

<mod: I hope that you don't mind Jen, but I've taken the liberty of locking this post and I will shortly copy your message to the other CTC shop threads. I'd just like to keep all of the discussion of the CTC swop on the minimum number of threads to avoid confusion. By the way, many thanks for relaying this info Jen>

the camp site at Igueldo is a hell of climb to get to and some distance from the city. Not very good when you have had a bevy or two by the beach or in town!

But there is a regular bus which goes to and fro the town until quite late.[/img]

we did the route from Sault on our heavy tourers complete with panniers (2 to me, 6 to hubby as my rack had broken). Saw several tandems at the top. Apart from the last 5 km, I'd say the hills in Devon are much more challenging. I've got a 36 on the back, but hubby hasn't. :)

recommendation for drop handlebar commuter with disks?

For my hubby: Can anyone recommend a drop handlebar bike suitable for commuting, but with disk brakes and 700c wheels? Preferably capable of carrying a rack.
The only one I've found so far is the Edinburgh Bike Co-op Revolution Country Explorer, but my workplace cycle to work scheme isn't registered with them.

what's the cheapest for 11 days touring in France for a couple? CTC's £66 seems a lot! We don't want bike cover, just accidents, health, 3rd party.

thanks bikepacker. Managed to speak to someone this morning who's travelled 4-5 times on BE, and they've confirmed what you said. So Gravesend it is! Oh how wonderful to get away from sad and soggy SW :D

best route from Paddington to Bike Bus pick-up?

Hi - we're hoping to get to London by train from the SW - does anyone know whether Waltham Abbey or South Mimms would make for the best cycle route from Paddington, as these are the 2 pick-up points for the Bike Bus. Thanks

My smaller Altura dryline panniers have leaked twice in the last week. They are about a year old, and have had light use. I'll be buying Ortlieb next time.

Altura dryline panniers-waterproof or not?

Does anyone else have these panniers? Have you found them to be waterproof? Mine have leaked twice this week, and they are only a year old and have had only gentle use. I'm glad I haven't been cycle touring with them!
