Re: Long QT Syndrome Heart Disease.

I was diagnosed about six months ago with atrial flutter. Since then I have undergone cardio version but it did not improve the atrial flutter. I am 82 years old and have been cycling for fifty years. Does anyone have experience of this and has it affected their cycling ? I do not have any pain or discomfort and it was only a chance visit to my doctor that revealed this condition.

Cycling to Australia

Does anyone know whether such a trip as this is still feasible given the terrorise activity on parts of the route,
Would one need visas for all countries en route before setting out from the U.K.,.?
Any suggestions as to type of bike, equipment etc,
Has anyone experience of such an undertaking and how long it might take for an average middle aged cyclist,
Thanks for any advice;

Age to hang up your saddle.

I have been a CTC member,not continuously, since 1953. I have been fortunate to have been able to cycle for most of these 60 years without any serious accidents or injuries. I am beginning to wonder whether at the age of 77 my luck might be due to run out. Is there any evidence as to how old most cyclists are able to go on cycling to ? Does the CTC publish any details of membership numbers correlated with age ?

M.Parris article

Like many other members I have also tried to get a reply printed in the Times.So far without success, perhaps I should have signed it Jeremy Clarkson.
Assuming the editor of the Times would like to see a Brit win a CYCLING gold medal at the London olympics perhaps his paper should try to show more of the successes of our national squad instead of belittling their training rides as these cyclists referred to by M.Paris may well have been.
