Re: padded or un padded longs?

Personally I prefer unpadded bib tights, long rides worn over favourite shorts and if out for a quick spin worn with any old shorts. Also in spring/autumn if it turns out unexpectedly nice whilst out, the outer layer can be removed.

Re: Deaf cyclists

I use a helmet mounted mirror (e-bay China). I was doubtful about their usefulness at first but now I'm loath to cycle without it, even on traffic free shared paths where I try to be a man toodling along on a bike rather than a cyclist after a Strava segment pb , I still wear my lid because of the m...

Re: Discount

Bought something for £60 online from Alfred's which was £70 in store . Picked it up from my local branch where they just picked one off the shelf when I went in. Also I went in on a different occasion for a tyre I'd seen advertised on their website and when I inquired about them they offered it me a...

Re: Recommend me some 26" mudguards

Ditto the SKS guards. No flaps on the ones I fitted to our MTB's but easy to make some with a bit of Blue Peter technology. It took me a while to realise that my flouro jacket was always dirty because of road grime thrown up from my wife's rear tyre, I stay a nice bright yellow now !

Re: More over-30 cyclists KSIs - so PCC calls for child helmet compulsion!?!?

Would like to add my two penneth worth, but it's been so superbly replied to by Bez and the Bike Users group that that there's nothing really to add, apart from complimenting their rational, sensible responses and hoping that those in power reflect on them. Perhaps we need a kudos button somewhere.....

Deterring mobile phone use

Do we have the tech to see if it's a driver, or only a passenger :

I don't see many passengers on the phone, it seems to be mainly a driver thing for some reason.

Re: Does Brexit mean we can have our yards back?

As far as I can remember, the U.S. film industry used 35, 16, or 8mm film size (width), but always referred to footage for length.

Re: Front Lights (not on the handlebars)

Cateye also do a neat bracket to fit on the fork crown, you have to use a compatible light though (Opticube HL 100 on mine)
Only place I found that stocked them was Edinburgh Bike Coop.

I don't fly anyway but if I did it wouldn't be with Ryanair http://www.irishtimes.com/news/environment/ryanair-s-michael-o-leary-says-cyclists-should-be-shot-1.2634793 If you jokingly talked about shooting people while waiting at the Ryanair check-in, you would end up in custody and not allowed to ...

Re: Professional bicycle mechanics

After getting your hands mucky fixing everything on your bike and realising that it's not rocket science after all, it means a malfunction miles from home doesn't seem so daunting, and you'll be able to do a repair to get home. Because of simplicity of bikes most minor roadside repairs can be tackl...

Very disappointed with ITV4

What peeved me was that usually when there is a problem with live race pictures, the programme usually still starts with the presenters in the studio apologising, then showing pre-race interviews, ceremonial start etc, giving us what info they have about what is happening in the race, and then going...

Re: Increasing restrictions on conveying cycles on trains

The system for bikes and wheelchairs has only got worse over the years, my previous post re guards vans was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but to be fair in my dim dark past, I regularly took my touring bike on the train, and wheelchair users usually ended up in the guards van as well, so I'd pull up a mail...
