Re: CUK ? Cold Call

Simple! If you never gift-aided a subscription or a donation in the first place, why would you want to now? After all, the option is always on the donation forms even the charity raffle tickets that come unsolicited through the post!

Re: Signs of old age

A couple of months back I was only 72 but since the cardiologist inflicted beta-blockers on me at the end of May I've aged at least 10 years. In the process of "protecting" your life they destroy all the pleasure in it. I've been on a handful of medications since I was 64, Olmesartan, Bis...

"where far more women want to cycle" You're quote.
I've noticed that women who want to cycle in this country do!

Re: Aching left Arm

Wouldn't hurt to get your blood pressure and sugar readings checked out, just to be on the safe side!!

PS.-mearlski - Just seen the date of your original post! I would think you know the answer by now? Sorry about that!

Re: Signs of old age

Still cycling at 85, but, only on the machine in the garage. Keeps "erindoors" happy, not too happy about it myself, but gets me a bit of exercise.

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

On the subject of women cycling, I've just been scanning a few pre-war cycle catalogues, one edition of "Awheel" displayed as many ladies with cycles as men. Every model displayed both male and female models and their cycles. Hercules, BSA, in fact all the catalogues displayed both models ...

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

Perhaps, if I did a fairer share of the household chores, she might have had more time. [Says he, looking furtively over his shoulder! . . . It's ok she's watching the box while she's doing the ironing.]

Re: 2019 Tour de France: Spoilers!

You must take into account that the TDF is just another job in a full season. I went to work and my salary was based on annual earnings! It's no different in cycling. I just did a little research and saw earnings in the millions of dollars/pounds annual earnings for some cyclists, including of cours...

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

It's as simple as this . . . if a woman wants to cycle, she'll obtain a cycle and go cycling. No mystery at all! My wife used to come cycling, then all of a sudden she gave it up. End of.

Re: Living without owning an internal combustion engine

I've just given up driving. I've never wasted so much of my time hanging around waiting and travelling by public transport. Instead of just popping into town it's a case of having a day out, so to speak! We are fortunate in that we have a village shop/PO, and a village butcher. Free bus travel also ...

Re: 2019 Tour de France: Spoilers!

Whatever the result, you can never take away that "G" is the first ever British-born TDF winner! Nicole Cooke might disagree, as she says in her book "The Breakaway". But of course I understand what you mean. She is Welsh too. Nicole is indeed one of cycling' greats, along with ...

Re: Weinman 605 or 600 Sidepull Brake Caliper

Marvellous!! I've just hunted through at least 20 Weinmann sidepull calipers and found exactly none of those sizes. and none on my bikes.
Are they a bit rare these days?
