Re: Hotels and bikes
All answers are reflective of my experience. Europe excellent and a normal way for residents to arrive. UK sometimes have to take luggage to the room then carry your „sports equipment „ to your room. Seems to be acceptable. I did that some 10 years ago at a hotel near my parents and it has become th...

Re: Touring with a fold up- hard case trailer?
Thank you. Bristol is my local so good to hear positive approach from the flyer. I have taken it on National in a soft bag from Bristol and was told by the driver- no bikes but the safest place for it would be that end of the hold opening the appropriate door and turning his back. I thanked him and ...

Touring with a fold up- hard case trailer?
I have a dahon Vitesse hub gear bike which is serving me well. My wife has bought a Bickerton Junction which is incredibly similar but has the edge due to dynamo lighting. We are now looking for hard cases for them but can’t find any for 20” wheels. Ideally they would convert to trailers with soft b...

Re: Flying with KLM - What Bike cost / experience ?
We regularly fly KLM/Air France never taken my bike but anecdotally I am sure that i have read that the way to fly bike is to state that it is sporting equipment?? Skis, golf clubs go free as do bikes? I have no evidence and no experience but suggest it worth an email/telephone call.

Re: Touring without cooking equipment?
I always take a mini Triangia to brew Oolong tea. It is always restorative and improves pre cooked or raw foods. Esbit solid fuel stove was my old kit but I found Hex blocks no longer seemed to be hot enough.
The need to cook is purely personal.

Re: Grand Union Canal
Thank you for all your replies. I recognise those pitfalls and goes that it would not be the best idea. I also have ridden kennet and avon from bristol switching to the A4 at one point. I missed the ncn4 sign. Sheerness to Worcester was nice a few years ago which I rode apart of my ride to Sustrans ...

Grand Union Canal
:D I have a random week leave beginning of September. Fascinated by canals as they are flat run from town to town so pubs and accommodation along the way. Anyone ridden the full length? Coming back to touring and thinking of riding a Saturday to Thursday to Uxbridge. Any knowledge or experience of t...

Re: Statins - side effects
What if you have proven dna risk? Untreated I naturally hit 14+. That’s on fish veg fruit nut diet and occasional meat. I have great concerns and therefore monitor bloods for muscle wastage. Agree it’s not simple and I don’t trust international Pharma without evidence. So far so good. It is a convers...

Re: Statins - side effects
Cannot disagree with anything written on this thread. So far so good but am sceptical and uncomfortable with the idea. Read widely; BMJ, New England Journal of Medicine and discussions with many consultants. Going with it for now as no issues. My main motive is not to stroke out, seen too many, duri...

Re: Natural clothing
:D Great food for thought thank you. When humidity rises I have used a cape and still do. Can mean dropping a gear to bear the west county winds.17 years of commute and it’s coming to the end. Has draw backs but keeps legs dry. Long day rides are not fun in it. I also use an endura jacket autumn win...
