Re: The Guardian does Touring by bike in France:The Véloscénic

Thanks for posting, it may be my answer to turning the avenue verte into a round-trip. no train will take my 'bent trike so i could cycle to Paris and return this way, rather than retracing my steps, and back to the UK from St Malo or Caen, job sorted! :)

Re: Distance on battery

The honest answer to your question is, nobody really knows - all systems are different and performance depends on a whole lot of variables, type of bike, gearing, size of wheels, rider weight, speed, acceleration, terrain, weather, etc etc..... I have found that only trial and error can tell you how...

Re: Google Maps Disabled access Maps - Sustrans?

as a fellow disabled tricyclist, I have sympathy with your plight! i am hoping to try LEJOG, or, more likely JOGLE next year. I hope you get on ok with it and are able to post some positive feedback! I would also like to do the Trans Pennine Trail, but that looks nigh on impossible for me at the mom...

Re: Eurovelo 15-Rhine Route June 2018-Thorn Nomad

I did it last summer, but in reverse, from Europoort to Waldshut (before diverting off to meet a friend in Zurich). It is dead easy to navigate- as you suggest, there is a big watery clue flowing alongside you all the way, the Rhine delta and Rotterdam is a bit complicated, but the locals are friend...

Re: Charging the battery on tour

I did along European tour in the summer, got a full charge in my room overnight, when I needed a boost in the day, cafe's and bars where I had lunch were more than happy to let me plug in, I hope it would be the same in the UK!

Re: Rotterdam to Arnhem route

I did this as the 'second leg' of my York -Lucca tour last summer. planned it first on cycle.travel and Garmin, but that was unnecessary. it's really simple, the Dutch cycle paths are fantastic and well signed, despite the complications of the Rhine Delta, on a map it looks more complicated than it ...

Re: New Route Planner

Yes, this planner is great, i planned my tour from York to Lucca on it last summer but had a few problems downloading it to a Garmin. By the time I got to Milan I had resorted to road signs and google maps- hence a scary 2km on the Superstrada at Malpensa Airport - up against the crash barriers with...

Re: What happens above 15.5mph?

I am disabled and have an e-assist on my recumbent trike. Simply, when i get to 25 km/h it stops helping, i can get it up to about 28 km/h on the flat - coming down the Cisa Pass in Italy in the summer I got it up to 67km/h before the display started showing error codes. But it didn't need re-setti...

Re: Trike for person with minor cerebral palsy?

Hi Jonny i am hemiplegic following a stroke in 2014 and have very limited use of my left leg and no use of my left arm. stuck in the house I was going crazy and went to try a few trikes. i decided on a recumbent Hase Kettweisel which has been bloody brilliant for me, started out small increasing dis...

Re: Travel Insurance for people with health conditions

i think that, as with all things you have to shop around. I had a stroke in 2014 which left me paralysed on my left side, and have since developed epilepsy, i can't ride a bike anymore so i bought a trike. I have just done a tour from York to Lucca, 1350 miles, slowly over 45 days. Holidaysafe cover...

Re: E Drive

It may not be much help, but I have recently had a Heinzmann motor fitted to my Kettweisel, its a delta trike, with motor on the 20" front wheel and torque sensor in the bottom bracket. I found it impossible to get any performance data from any manufactured beforehand, which is understandable a...

Hi Did You go up the Rhine? I too have tried reading the guidebook backwards! how did you get on? I am planning to try to cycle from York to Lucca next summer, York-Hull/Rotterdan Ferry, Europoort-Basel on the EV15, cycle to Lucerne and then cheat on the train to Andermatt over Gotthardpass, drop dr...
