I have done exactly that without any problems at all. I used it when I converted an old mtb into my “shopping bike”.

I just happened to have some heavy duty clear tape and some, black,textured duct tape, both from B&Q. I made a paper template to,help me. I stuck the duct tape onto a clean surface then stuck a layer of clear tape over it. I cut it to shape with a scalpel and transferred it to the chainstay. Sev...

Sorry if I'm too late to be useful with this but here goes. I can't measure mine at the moment but I can tell you this. I've used mine with a Mercedes C Class estate and with. KIa Sportage. Both have a lift up back door. The clearance is enormous and I can't imagine that any car would be a problem. ...

I had this very situation. A 34 tooth cog worked but it rubbed the top jockey wheel even with the "b" screw all the way out. I fitted a Lindarets Roadlink from 18bikes and the problem was solved. I could have fitted a much bigger cog if I had needed it.
