Re: Motorcycle users group, seriously !

With respect a Sportster is only half a Harley Interesting opinion but they all sound the same...ie "agricultural".I've ridden and been pinion on a couple of other HD and they all ride the same too IMO.They just feel "old".I've never been a fan 0f "V" engines on bikes....

Re: Motorcycle users group, seriously !

Try this .... https://www.royalenfield.com/motorcycles/himalayan/bike/ I saw a couple of these parked up last time we were in Hawes, they looked the business but I couldn't help thinking how they stack up against the Hondas and other Japanese examples. Outside Pennygarth Cafe by any chance? We used t...

Re: Motorcycle users group, seriously !

I started riding motorbikes when I was 6 or 7 back in the mid-70s and was never without one until just before my daughter was born 17 years ago.I haven’t owned one since. I did the Hardly Dangerous thing the wrong way around ie in my early 20s not late 40s  I was coerced into buying an 883 Spo...

Re: cycling leg warmers

An open question . The idea rather than full length things, cheap v others. I don't see the problem Cheap are usually cr@p on both quality and fit. Not everyone can get on with them(I will only wear them over bib-tights on very cold days). Best option is Autumn longs in +0 temps,Winter longs in -0 t...

Re: Shared use paths & Strava racing

Bizarre. There’s more than one App that gives rewards but the focus seems to be on Strava. It appears Strava is internet moaners target of the month  I suppose by the strange logic on this thread “regulators” should also “regulate” Fortnite for starting a “flossing” craze or Pokemon Go for kids...

Re: Shared use paths & Strava racing

I'm sure Strava has as many analysis uses as many similar trackers but that's beside the point. Why be such a fan as to deny the drawbacks? Without Strava, I'm sure another competition would take its place quickly, which is why regulators should step in. There are no drawbacks AFAIC. Your logic is ...

Re: Shared use paths & Strava racing

Strava rewards them for it, ranging from their name in lights, as mentioned above, to actual prizes sometimes AIUI. And you think if Strava didn't they would not do it  I wonder what did these types did before Apps/Internet/technology  Strava seems to be a target because it's the most p...

Re: Shared use paths & Strava racing

This has long been a problem with Strava. I don't think there will be any way to fix it without regulators taking action against the company. Why? It isn’t Strava(or any other Apps) fault. Strava/Endomondo/Garmin/insert-digital-stats-storage-app-here don’t force people to ride fast and there are pl...

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

Obviously only relevant if you're around the West/North Yorkshire/Wetherby area but this all-female CC seems to be doing OK
https://yorkshirelasscc.co.uk/
Almost 130 members but is affiliated with British Cycling which isn't everyones cup of Tea.

Re: Choosing a club

Try a few out as not all CCs suit everyone. Many clubs have "social" groups and "welcome" rides to help new members.I'm a member of three CCs.One is a Charity Team with just an "A" (or fast) ride, one has A,B+,B and C groups and one has no groups but no one is left behin...

Re: Trains...why?

So even in your case 300 miles and then a break whilst the car charges is probably good enough. At some point it will be a no brainer. I disagree. I drive to the South of France every year.Sheffield to Frejus(Cote d’Azur)is usually around 16-17 hours including Ferry, fuel and stops.I stop for nap tw...

Re: Trains...why?

The "average" mileage between charges on an electric car is 100(Not including Tesla).
When they can do 5-600miles+ AND there are enough charge points around the UK then I'd have absolutely no problem buying one.Unfortunately that is a long way off so I'll stick with my Diesel

Re: BC membership up

I do wonder if the CTC ought to be looking at the BCF for ideas if numbers are important. The CTC is too stuck in it's ways. They offer nothing at all I'm interested in,then again BC don't really either other than the PLI. I've no loyalty to either but my son has to have BC membership as his CC is a...
