Re: 12 Speed Brompton

You could retain your 6 speed cassette and get a new wheel built with a Sturmey Archer cassette hub.

Re: What's the best app for planning multi-day bike trips?

I use the free version of ride with GPS to plan all my routes and find it really user friendly.

Re: Trike - Long distance route recommendations

I have looked at this in more detail and would suggest that it could be broken down into 4 days with camping at the following locations.
Starting at Clevedon
Camping
1st night Horwood Farm Wickwar. Approx 42 miles.
2nd night Piepards Farm Limpley Stoke 39 miles.
3rd night Wookey Farm Wookey Hole 31 miles.
return to Clevedon 22 miles.

I may suggest this as a potential camping trip on the Facebook group page I administer.

Re: Trike - Long distance route recommendations

Hi Vicky,
I have come up with a circuit taking in Bristol, Bath, and Cheddar gorge.I have attached a map of the route and the elevation profile. If it is of interest I can post you more details or modify it.

Re: North Devon

Hi Sqiggle,
I administer a Facebook group for recumbent trike riders in the South West and Wales and arrange group rides throughout the area. You would be most welcome to join the group ride. Attached is a QR code for the group.

Re: Trike - Long distance route recommendations

I ride an ICE Adventure trike and have looked at the possibility of riding the King Alfred trail. Unfortunately some sections of the route are deeply rutted and or narrow so not feasible on a trike. What sort of daily distance are you thinking of and how many days travel. I may be able to combine some of my group rides to provide you with a suitable route.

Recumbent rides

I posted a thread earlier this month about a potential weekend event for recumbent trikes next year and had some positive responses. So I thought it worth asking if people would like to know about the group rides which I coordinate. I run a Facebook group predominantly for recumbent trike riders in the South West and Wales and attempt to arrange around 6 -10 rides a year. As a group ride the pace will be tailored to suit all of those present. The routes utilise dedicated cycle tracks, shared paths, and the NCN and will have been preridden to ensure that there are no barriers or obstacles which could prevent passage. Whilst the group was arranged for Trike riders I have no objection to other riders attending. If people are interested then I will update this post with ride details.

No problem, if you let me know an email address I'll send you updates. The location is Clevedon near Bristol.

Recumbent trike weekend

Hi All, I administer a Facebook page for recumbent trike riders predominantly to arrange group rides. QR code for the page attached. For some time I have been thinking of arranging a weekend event and this year it looks like it might happen. It's not until the first week in June so still plenty of time to sort out the details but if you are interested let me know and I'll send you a link.

Re: Taking a DSLR camera with you

I have a Lowepro Apex camera bag which was easily converted into a handle bar bag. The other benefit of this bag is that it has an integral rain cover.

Re: Recumbent trikes for winter riding

I had a great ride last year across the Mendips. The smaller roads had field runoff which had frozen across the full width of the road. Any one on 2 wheels would have been off in a second. I lost some traction on the climb up Wrington hill which could have been overcome if I had a studded rear tyre. Otherwise the ride was great fun.
