Re: Bad nether squish!

Whereas this is "news" it isn't new. Google "Steve Hogg sensitive issues" and "Steve Hogg more sensitive issues" To use Hannah Dines' own phrase, she is "sitting right on the money" in the photo in the article. Most riders get into an aero tuck using a combin...

Re: Close pass - am I overreacting or should I take a stand ?

Who was assaulted? It was a very close pass by an idiot of a van driver. That's all. Report it to the company. I believe the technical law description of assault, or common assault at least, which gets a bit legalese to be fair in all its ins and outs, but the summary is an assault is commited when...

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

I read a comment on this article about how it is not possible to cycle in skirts and heels, and that carrying luggage is out of the question on a bike. It reminded me of riding through a Dutch town on a tour and being overtaken by a young lady in a short skirt and heels, she didn’t want to wait beh...

Hi ...they are incentivised to drive between their set routes Regulation (EC) 561/2006 "CHAPTER III LIABILITY OF TRANSPORT UNDERTAKINGS Article 10 1. A transport undertaking shall not give drivers it employs or who are put at its disposal any payment, even in the form of a bonus or wage supple...

Re: Did this bus pass close enough?

Thanks all for the feedback. Having read your various comments, I decided to take the plunge and report it to Sussex Police's Operation Crackdown. We'll see if anything comes of it. It's possible that the bus was operating a Rail Replacement service (something I've had issues with before). At the t...

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

Id be amazed if anyone in the NL felt they needed a camera to ride a bike with, whereas I feel in the UK its become a virtual necessity [...] I feel that's overgeneralising. Many places in the UK are fine, so you see few cameras on bikes. I keep mine mainly so I don't need to stop to photograph thi...

Re: Did this bus pass close enough?

you should report it definitely IMO, the reg plate is clearly visible so its identifiable, which isnt always the case with videos I can assure you, but whether you do is still up to you. but that looks close, which means in real life it was even closer, and its fast, and its a big vehicle, thats qui...

Re: What is stopping women from cycling?

Here's a thought,I wonder what percentage of cyclists in the UK use a camera to record their everyday journey, especially in cities, and why? Compare that percentage figue with NL cyclists. Id be amazed if anyone in the NL felt they needed a camera to ride a bike with, whereas I feel in the UK its be...

Re: Scrap Funding For Elite Athletes.

Also, no one has really gone in to how successful the amateurs would be were it not for the infrastructure provided on the back of the elite central funding. I suspect the Derbados velodrome wouldn't be there without the interest in track cycling built on the back of funding provided to the Hoys an...

Re: Close pass by rail replacement bus

All that should be necessary to identify the offender is time and place - they will be running to a timetable so narrowing down the actual vehicle/driver should not be that difficult - just report it and follow up accordingly. Might not be so easy, a train with a couple of hundred passengers would ...

Re: It's far too dangerous to cycle on the road

it was unbelievable how bad the cycle path/pavements were. Id ridden on the main roads as I figured theyd be ok, bar the occasional deposit of snow not cleaned properly off a car that aerodynamics had soon resolved for the driver, and ice that kept dropping off the trees on to me but theres a sectio...

Re: Elderly drivers: when is it time to hand over the car keys?

An incompetent young or old driver might engage gear in automatic, the vehicle the then moves In a manual they might stall the engine :? and its not the left foot, its the right foot that does it, unless you are a racing driver very few people actually left foot brake and in a manual youd have to h...

Re: Quick check - servicing TRP Spyre mechanical cable disc

well Im hopelessly non mechanically minded, but even I managed to replace the pads on the spyres on my bike.so Id say they are dead easy to replace :) I didnt muck around with the caliper at all, it was just the adjustment screws I had to unscrew far more than Id expected, just because the pads I wa...

Re: black ice

well black ice can form at air temps below 3C, though as others have said its the road surface temp thats more significant and you will absolutely find that temperature can vary alot on a ride. Id also agree it can be much colder around 0 or -1 but if the roads are dry then it will generally be fine...

Re: Gobee.bike pulls out of France due to 'mass destruction' of its dockless bike fleet

Ofo leaves the UK. It seems the British are thugs and vandals and can't be trusted. ;-) https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jan/10/ofo-cycle-hire-firm-pulls-out-of-london I get the feeling Urbo (http://myurbo.com/) have quietly gone the same way, as they pulled out of 3 of the London boroughs ...
