Re: 250 Miles

London apparently only has 22.5miles of segregated cycle ways, whilst alot of towns and cities around the rest of the UK actually have none. So is 250 miles alot ? probably not really in the grand scheme of things, but its a start isnt it ? TfL are currently in consultation for a new segregated path...

Re: Why wear black?

Is there a fear among cyclists that a law will eventually be passed that makes it illegal not to be wearing hi vis when cycling on public roads ? Just that I'd think the helmet law would have to come first so I don't think it will be anytime soon. To be honest I think hi vis is more important thoug...

Re: Cycle space on trains

This is what I have heard too from train staff: I rant about GWR but they just shrug their shoulders and say, it's not us, guv, it's the gov. Our focus needs to be on the DfT. All rolling stock is procured and specced by the DfT. Provision of bike space, the hard seats that people complain about, a...

I dont understand though, given youd think the setup they work and live in surrounded by people looking for the marginal gains in everything, that it took so long to identify and treat properly for her. I mean the 7 year average they quote is about the average women living her everyday life with all...

Re: What's your average speed?

mines generally around 15mph,I have hit a few 16mph rides this year for the first time ever, but its taken me years to gain that extra 1mph and arguably using a different pedalling technique to get it, but I just find I tend to go further rather than faster, so knowing an average I can maintain over...

Re: More opinions required.

scooter rider is being a chump for sure but I suppose he thought as was he was going straight on wouldnt expect you to be doing anything else, plus he's thinking more about getting ahead of you first rather than where you are going as you say the only way to stop that is being over more to the right...

Re: Drivers might be trying to help, not obstruct

Mmmm... You want me to leave you room on the left, but the chap this morning was angry because he didn't think I gave him enough room on the right! The solution seems to be just stick to the middle and not try to help either side, but I'm still confused about which side cyclists should be filtering...

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

The C2W scheme is flawed in several ways. It should be available to all taxpayers, regardless of whether your employer has signed up for it. It’s not available to those who don’t work. I’ve retired, I still pay tax and I’m riding my bike more than ever I did whilst I was at work, so why can’t I enj...

Re: Punishment Stops

well the police may well be interested in the driver, but if you read the original instagram post, she says the driver has been found, spoken to, and has denied it happened, and without camera footage and no other independent witnesses stepping forward, it’s going to be difficult to bring any charge...

Re: Total And Utter Disgrace

Very sad! I may sound heartless, but, how about looking where you’re going? How about dappled light from trees, pot holes filled with water in wet weather, other incidents /physical obstructions that take away your view from the road. We can't all be head down watching the tarmac immediately in fro...

It's a question, just a question.... if you hadn't had front and rear cameras to aid your campaign to gather footage of the evil motorists would you not have just braked and kept yourself safe ? "Duty of care" .. and all that. Banging on her car ? So time to manoeuvre or brake ?... bad de...

Im fortunate my job allows me to work flexibly on hours such that I can completely avoid the school run and start later, helps the school day seems to be shifting ever earlier too, as its complete lunacy on the road I live on which leads to both primary and high school, and not much better on the co...

Re: Parking on the pavement to be banned!

its not uncommon for people round where I live to park the car such that they are parked so far over on the pavement the wheels still on the road are almost touching the kerb, I dont think they get it at all, Ive argued with some of them till Im blue in the face they think they can park anywhere. pl...
