Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

From personal experience and that of many of my fellow cyclists, Brooks are a very good company with excellent after sales. You posted this on Saturday and its now monday so I assume this happened recently. Give then a call and ask their advice. Did you 'proof' the saddle before use?

Re: Europcar Penzance lift to hotel.

One way van hire (2 persons) (Hertz or Thrifty?) next to Truro rail station. Train Truro to Penzance. Sat next to my bike on the train. Cycled Penzance stn to hotel. No need to box up your bike. Did it 2.5 years ago.

Re: Any suggestions for a good front camera?

Go Pro hero 7 currently on black friday deal at £129.99 at Argos. I have Hero +. Pictures good, number plates readable. 2+ hours battery life. Easily switches on and off "on the go". However make sure you get a good handlebar attachment. I bought cheap plastic which cracked and Go Pro fell...

Re: Hadrian's Cycleway transport?

It takes one and a half days to cycle from Newcastle back to Whitehaven or similar location so instead of spending the next morning on a train just add one day to your itinerary and cycle back. (Newcastle to carlisle = 1 day. overnight in Carlisle (travel lodge) , then Carlisle to the coast the next...

Re: LEJOG April 2019

Day 10 around mile 54 go through Crawford. Gives you opportunity of a shop which might be open but more importantly it cuts out an unnecessary hill by Weston’s Recovery Day9 A lot will say, including me, the A6 over Shap isn’t busy and isn’t a steep , to be feared, climb. I suspect your very pretty...

Re: What would you do differently?

I would do it for charity. So many people wanted to donate because for me it was going to be quite an achievement (and was), yet I chose not to. I could have raised quite a bit for a charity that now I am thinking of doing it again just for that reason.

Re: LEJOG April 2019

A49 must've changed then. I was last up there spring of 2014 and rode Leominster/Ludlow/Church Stretton/Shrewsbury/Whitchurch with absolutely no bother at all. It's a good cycling road considering it's a major trunk road ........... or at least it was, and I've ridden it loads of times. Mercian and...

Re: LEJOG April 2019

I could advise you to go on this road or that road, avoid this town or that city but I wont. What I will advise you to do is to meticulously plan your route. Work out approximately how many miles to ride each day. If you are staying in hostels, B and B or premier inn type places look for place to st...

Re: Airports on your own

For anyone flying from Birmingham, park at the off site 'airparks' , Mackadown Lane. They will transport you and your bike (in a box) on their bus. I enquired before travelling 2 years ago and have since used them twice. Simple and no problem. Regular bus service. There is a space on the bus for pus...

Re: British airways bike charges

I think you will be charged £65. On economy tickets one hold bag is free but only up to 23kg. So you may be charged the overweight fee of £65 https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/baggage-essentials/extra-overweight-baggage Thanks Thats the way I read it... pity they couldnt just say it ...

British airways bike charges

Having read the somewhat complicated baggage allowance terms etc on the British Airways site I am non the wiser of the cost. Perhaps I'm not the brightest person on the planet. Anyway can someone tell me how much it costs to take a bike in a bike box, approx 30kg on a BA flight from LHR to european ...

Cyclists accommodation Italy

We are a group of 5 cyclists (male and female) that would like a one week holiday cycling in Italy next April, May or June 2019. Can anyone recommend suitable bed breakfast and evening meal accommodation that specializes for cyclists. We don't want to go 'organised' but just a base suitable for road...
