Chain ring question!

Currently have a GT Grade with FSA Vero Compact 50/34t alloy on front & Sun Race 9spd 11-28 on back with Sora derailleurs. Noticed today when I'm pedalling that it's skipping and I think I may have damaged the teeth on the front chain ring somehow. I don't know if I can replace just the chain ri...

Thanks Brucey. It's not something I've tried so might be worth a shot! Cheer!

Re: Potential brakes upgrade

In answer to your questions, it's been a while since I had a bike, bought mine over a year ago and I've tweaked the brakes as best I can but find them bit soft and slow regardless of what I do to them. I think the new or more expensive versions might come with spyre but definitely not mine! Apologie...

Re: Potential brakes upgrade

Thanks for replies, definitely Tektro not spyre brakes. Budget is definitely low end but I can save up! Looking at upgrading slowly, brakes first as mine don't give me a huge amount of confidence, then the cassette to deal with hills better then hopefully the wheels. I want to do small bike packing ...

Re: Potential brakes upgrade

Thanks Lollykat they seem like quite a good option, not horrifically expensive & lots of positive reviews! I'll definitely keep them in mind.

Potential brakes upgrade

I have a standard GT Grade Sora which comes with Tektro mechanical disk brakes. They're OK but not great so I spoke to one LBS who said it would cost £100s to upgrade them. I don't want to spend a fortune but thought there must be something better than these if only official shimano sora ones?

Re: 30 days timelapse at sea.

Interesting video. Never get with timelapse how the exposure is always spot on night and day or even throughout the day, or what shutterspeed and how often they have between images. 1500gb is a lot of editing though!

Re: New commuter rest days!

Thanks for the replies. Cycling each day isn't absolutely essential, however it is key to saving money, getting fit and losing weight as well as my car needing a new cam belt which i cant afford! Funny thing today I took it easy on the way in but got there quickly then had to get home quick and got ...

Re: New commuter rest days!

Thanks for the reply. I'm just ensuring I get there in time at the moment, once I've got that down I've a feeling routes I can go including over a big hill, bit I'm saving that until I'm much fitter! Seem like a good idea to keep the two rest days for the moment then!

New commuter rest days!

So I've just started after a very long time cycling to and from work. It's a 7 mile round trip which is not a lot I realise and I think it's getting easier as I slowly improve my fitness & start to lose weight. My question is after 5 days my legs feel pretty tired as they're not used to it so I'...

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself

Hi everyone, I guess this is kind of a reintroduction! I visited the forum about a year or so ago asking for advice about a bike. Eventually I made my choice but didn't get very far with it! Fast forward a year, a change of work location means I am now able to be a cycle commuter. Been cycling to wo...

Re: Issues with GT Grade gravel bike wheels

Thank you all I took the risk and tried out the 2016 GT Grade Sora & Specialized Diverge A1. The GT felt more comfortable, combined with being price matched for £525 which was a bargain and seemingly considerably lighter it seems perfect & worth the risk! I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at ...

Thanks Brucey that's very helpful! So er, how I do relieve the stress?

Issues with GT Grade gravel bike wheels

I'm trying out two bikes on Monday a 2017 Specialized Diverge A1 & 2016 GT Grade Sora I'm just wondering if anyone's had any issues with the Grade wheels as I've been hearing the spokes break easily due to over tightening in the factory? I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my D6603 using hovercr...
