Re: Is Trump Mad?
Beware of a slide towards turning this into a proxy-Brexit topic. Please avoid it . . . . . . Thanks

Re: Did you clap this time round - or last time?
I have just been viewing some short interviews with NHS staff on the medical front line. - pleading for people to help them, by avoiding contact risks.
It brings tears to my eyes to think of what they are doing/risking for the wellbeing of others.
Among the many notable Radio 4 programs recently, I remember one learned person observing that ( in general ) the monetary rewards in our society appear to be inversely proportional to the benefit of that persons work to others.
One can only hope that this Covid life/imminent-death struggle will have a tangible effect on how society values the things that are really important.

Anyone who thinks less of you for shunning motor-vehicle ownership - isn't worth bothering about.
You are one of the growing band of pioneers who manage to live your life without it.
It is only those who live their lives in a sustainable, non-planet-destroying way who can save yourselves* and the next generations.
Top marks. Do it !

Re: Holland Bike shop online failed deliveries?
I ordered a replacement pack of Philips razor heads on 1st Dec 20. They were dispatched from Philips Netherlands using the "free" delivery option. They arrived 20 days later.
The replacement heads were very impressive ( compared to the 2.5 year old ones ). I thought I had better stock up - before they stop making them.
PS Loads of fakes around for shaver part replacements.
Next order 21st Dec 20 . . . . . me expecting a loooong delay : chaos for Xmas + Covid + Brexit + Apocalypse . . . They arrived after a couple of days ( again from NL ).
Crazy times.

Thanks for the offer - I'll pass on the recipe though thanks, as I don't appear to eat any pastry-based food these days.
. . . but visiting any decent boulangerie causes me the distress of extra-ordinary temptation. It all looks delicious !

Re: feedback about moderation
We had an incidental experiment a few days ago . . . . . I didn't logon here for 24 - 36 hours and thus, didn't do my daily/twice-daily, pre-emptive review of Newly-registered accounts.
This appears to have resulted in the 39 spam posts on the Approval queue, that ncutler had to delete. [ Sorry, ncutler, I thought I best keep quiet about that. Thanks for handling it - may all your tarts be tasty and perfectly-formed ].

Re: Mysterious hole
1) Your profound concern for the recipient of the bicycle - safety FIRST ! Why risk it ?
2) Legally negligent - You are the person who handed on the bike knowing full-well that there was an obvious defect. Why risk it ?
3) Red-top Rag newspapers get a story about a key-worker - killed or seriously injured - by a donated bike. I'll leave you to imagine the consequences of that one.

Yes, Carlton green has offered some assistance. A bit of a learning curve first.
This is in anticipation of a squeeze on Vorpal's time in the short / medium term.

Re: Dangerous front lights
^ Illustrates to me that the roads are ever more perilous.
The guy on the bike probably thinks that he is doing himself and everyone else a favour by using two bright front lights.
Probably never imagining that it could provide a false signal to an onlooker.
People make mistakes. Mistakes on the roads can be fatal.
