Re: Recommend a cycle camera ( update : Garmin VIRB 30 ultra FAILED )
Re: Akaso Brave 4: I bought one last September, partly because it was mentioned here. You get a lot of 'stuff' for £50 or so, the picture is not bad and image stabilisation is good. But I've had problems with the accessories - the 'over centre' clasp on the waterproof case comes apart sometimes and ...

Re: Anyone found the roads less busy and/or motorists driving better?
Traffic levels in north Bristol are hugely reduced, but I've noticed a scary number of cars being driven by idiots. Quite a few are boy racers, with loud exhausts - you get the feeling they think no-one's watching. I've been working from home, each day after work going for a ride to a quiet supermar...

Re: A really good weatherproof jacket
I don't believe there is the perfect solution, bu the closest I've found so far is the Showers Pass Elite 2.1 which I've used through two winters. It's a decent material, but more importantly it has the best venting of any jacket I've tried, huge under arm zips, a full width rear vent, two way fron...

Re: ..if they need studded snow/ice tyres?
Ski instructor on his way to work... his advice was just to keep the pressures low. But it's a different sort of snow there. No SPDs on those boots.

Re: Deliveroo
Monday night about 6pm I watched a Deliveroo cyclist go through red lights at the top of Park Street, dodging the traffic coming from his right along Park Row. He then pootled along the right-hand side of Queens Rd, opposite the Wills Building/Museum etc. No lights, dark clothing...

Who needs fat tyres? This is a common sight in Zermatt, which is car-free (kind-of).

Re: bike agro getting to JOG by rail
I also ended up phoning ScotRail earlier this year to book spaces and they (real Scottish person!) couldn't have been more helpful. The tickets arrived next day first class. When we arrived for the 06:18 at Wick, the train was late leaving (mechanical problem) so they missed out the Thurso stop to c...

Re: Cycling: not Hereford, not anywhere?
I've just come across this thread which is quite an eye-opener: I did a LEJOG ride with my son in August and Hereford was one of our stops - a great B&B overlooking the river. But Hereford was the only place in the entire journey where we were taken to task by an angry pedestrian for cycling in ...

Re: The "new" Stronglight Impact Triple
Yes, that's what my current outer ring ((48) looks like now... I'm going from 48/38/28 to 46/34/24 and had thought it would be fairly straightforward. Maybe I should just try going to 48/38/24 as I see someone further up this thread has done. Not sure my Ultegra mech would cope though...

Re: The "new" Stronglight Impact Triple
A related question - I've just received a set of Spa-branded Zicral chainrings to replace the existing ones on my Spa/Stronglight/XD2/Impact chainset, which currently has a mix of Stronglight and TA rings. However, the new Spa rings have the bolt holes set at 180 degrees from my existing ones i.e. t...

Re: CTC Bike Bag on Ryanair
No problems in general with the CTC-type bag on Easyjet, but I recently had a 'discussion' at Inverness airport, where a ground-handling person claimed that my son's bike wouldn't fit through the oversize-luggage scanner. He was asked to 'just drop the saddle using the lever', but a) the bike is an ...

I don't know if this is in the right place, but it's great: http://www.guesthouse-moffat.com/home. I stayed there recently on my way to Edinburgh, my son has stayed there 3 times. They wash your cycle clothes, there's a secure place for bike storage, with tools, workstand etc.

Re: Crask Inn is it still open?
I called in with my son on our way north to Tongue and enjoyed a fine pint of Yellowhammer bitter at the table outside. The inn is up for sale and has been for a while - the charming lady who runs it was saying that she's been finding it very tiring and needs to 'move on', so she's not taking bookin...

Re: Help! Lejog mechanical, N. Lancs
I think it's beyond that. .. a new off-the-shelf Tiagra road wheel has solved the problem. Personally delivered to Oxenholme station by mrs andy_l. Son will investigate the old wheel when we get back but rim was pretty worn also! Thanks to all for help.
