Re: Birmingham Road Cycling routes

Hi all, I'll be in Birmingham shortly for a few days and will be taking the kids and bikes. Does anyone know of any good, low-traffic cycle routes either in parks, the city itself or just outside that we could do. Not looking for huge routes - just something in the order of 20-30 miles nothing too ...

Re: Fred Whitton

Given how many have to walk if you knew it was on why bother ??? The Velo events are similar but nothing to stop you getting on if you want to

Re: Keto Diet and Cycling Fitness

It works for all IMHO if you use it as a base. I'm not sure what you mean by a base? That sounds more like fat adaptation than ketotis https://blog.virtahealth.com/fat-adapted/ Also, without getting into a fight about it :? That it doesn't work for all is clearly evidenced by the research. Well to ...

Re: Keto Diet and Cycling Fitness

I've given it several goes and can't make it work. I've felt really good in ketotis throughout several 200 and 300km Audax, though not particularly fast by some standards I've done my quickest times at both distances on nothing more than a couple of black coffees and a pocketful of walnuts. I've al...

I have heard some real bad stories about that but it is an ‘event’ that like Ride London many thousands feel they have to do ... meanwhile I pump out 200km a week simply on my commute

Re: cycliing and ageing

It's not getting old that makes you give up - it's giving up that makes you old! My own intention is to continue my thrusting, of every kind, in a vigorous manner for as long as possible and even when it's not! It is a sad thing to see 40 and 50 year-olds who look like bits of a fatberg or old tedd...

Cycling is the best as we grow older... less strain on muscles, brilliant for the cardio system and tie in with some core work , a winner !

Re: Scientists say high cadence is inefficient

I wonder though about high cadence as really it is used for climbing and on the flat Froome and others do have cadences in the 70’s pushing higher gears

Re: Cycling to work

Interesting thread! At work I always keep a few "anti-bacterial wipes" to use in a pinch, but in summer I too use the quick wash by the sink. Microfiber towels are a bliss! I like the idea of proposing some privacy in the sinks, still you have the problem of the floor getting wet after a ...
