Re: How many times can you rewaterproof Gore?

Gore Tex is a membrane laminate and don't think it can be "re-waterproofed" It is usually bonded to the internal of the clothing. Now, you can use a waterproofing substance to treat the nylon shell and that will work, but you lose the breath-ability of the Gore Tex membrane. But I could be...

Re: Pootling around northern Italy

Cortina hotels are mostly available. Riders must be staying more at the beginning/end of the route.
I'll get a vantage point and watch the ride

Re: New touring wheelset - any suggestions ?

If you are still searching. I've bought 2 wheel sets from http://www.rosebikes.com
They have a good selection with a wide range of prices.
Both sets have stayed true after thousands of kms

Re: Footwear

Five Tens as a dedicated bike shoe, but if you need to walk on mud/grass, they are not the best. For more of a cross, I like the Merrill Crosslander. Has a good tread and the sole is thin enough to feel the pedals

Re: Nuremberg to Venice in August

Not sure which route you will,be taking. But the Alpe Adria cycle route (Salzburg-Grado, IT.) is a nice route, well set up. There is also the Drau cycle route that takes you from Austria to the east side of Slovenia (Maribor), it is also a nice route, though a little spartan. In Croatia, I would avo...

Re: Croatia to Montenegro border

This occurs with many of the smaller states in Europe. If you think your border crossing is on a secondary road, there are sources to see hours and eligibility for that border crossing.

Re: Ridgeback vs B-Twin

I agree with Brucey re; LBS. From my experience Decathlon does not have very good mechanics and many times they are only part time. If you can get the Ridgeway from a reputable LBS, go for it. They may even give you a good price, where Deca does no haggling

Re: e Fat: what's available top end?

Hi folks, What is available on the market for quality e Fat? so far I've only found the Cube Nutrail 500 and the Moustache Samedi 26 Wild : surely there must be more? Not sure why you think the Cube is not a top end bike. It has high end components, as well as a suspension fork and the Bosch CX mot...

Re: Trekking handlebars advice pls.

I tried butterflys and liked them, but there was still something that did not convince they were the best solution. Perhaps it was the lower hand grips raised my center of gravity and made downhills a little scary. So I switched back to flats with the shown bar ends. I like them much more as the swe...

Re: Pedal tap set

I don't mean to be rude, but if you have stripped the threads of a new crank, what makes you think you will do a good job of cutting new threads? I had not tightened the pedal enough and became loose whilst pedaling, that was the cause of the strip, not the installation. Maybe I'll just save the ch...
