Re: PSA Test & Cycling

Has anybody else had a PSA test and did they give up cycling for two weeks before the blood sample was taken ? (or were they given different instructions?). Apparently any strenuous exercise can raise the PSA to some degree. I was recommended to have a PSA test after symptoms and a DRE by GP sugges...

Re: Hadrian's Wall Cycle Route 72 - Would love Feedback on my Video

Very good, very entertaining. Great quality video (GoPro?). It didn't rain every day so I assume it would be earlier this 'summer'? I thought we might be looking at a potential Darwin award at around 12.20.

Re: Norwich to Lowestoft through The Broads

please bear in mind that the routes mentioned will take you nowhere near the proper broads. What's not proper broads about it? Surlingham is on the Broads. To get there you'd probably want to go via Bramerton, also on the broads, as is Loddon/Chedgrave and Beccles. I've just returned from 2 weeks t...

Gipiemme Roccia Equipe - upgrade?

Any views on these as replacements for my stock GT Grade AL 105 Alex ATD470 rims? http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPGIROEQ/gipiemme-roccia-equipe-700c-29-inch-disc-wheelset [Gipiemme Roccia Equipe 700c/29 Inch Disc Wheelset] What's wrong with my existing ones? Two problems, I've lost 2 rear wheel spoke...

Re: WOTR

I can recommend the route as its nice and quiet with some stunning scenery Yep, can vouch for that - was my first ever bike tour last September, B & B's (Burnsall and York). Great contrast in scenery between Yorkshire Dales and Vale of York, but found scenery on last day a bit nondescript, even...

Re: Trouble sleeping after long rides

This happens to me pretty much every time. 75 miles yesterday on club run at a pace I was uncomfortable with should have been more than enough to ensure a good nights sleep but it didn't happen. It's mostly a feeling of being unable to find a position that's comfortable, presumably some form of musc...

Re: Way of the Roses

I did it in 3 days last September, overnight in Burnsall & York B&B. 1st & 3rd days allowed for train to/from start/finish. Route is clearly signposted for the most part. There's a few youtube videos that might help to give an idea of the terrain and places enroute. Apart from the legend...

Re: Project to Widen Gear Range for Shimano 105 11 speed

I have done exactly this with a 105 50/34 and 11-32 combination. https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=112284&p=1110307#p1110307 The only issues were the chain is quite slack on small/small and there is slight hesitancy in engaging smallest 2 cogs on cassette, but it gets there. I'...

Re: Little chainring smaller than big sprocket.

Have just read over this subject, but not enough familiarity with bike bits to follow it all. I'm in about the same category of requiring increasingly larger rear relative to front. I have 2 road bikes with 'standard' 105 11-speed compact chainrings. One one I have replaced rear 11-32 with SRAM 11-3...

Re: If you had a £1000

With a 34 front and 32 rear the P-x Tiagra model is of no use whatsoever to me. If one can manage with a high 20"s low then go gravel! I have one of these 'gravel' bikes, originally with 11-speed 105's, so 34 front / 32 rear. I replaced the rear cassette with an SRAM 11 - 36 requiring just a R...
