Brompton 13T and 16T sprockets for BWR

Hello all,

I have today emailed Brompton Support regarding their decision to sell the 13T and 16T sprockets only as a set with a chain disc, spacer and circlip. This seems a waste of resources as I don't need or want the three additional items each time I replace the sprockets.

Here is their response:

You can still purchase the 13T sprocket individually from a Brompton retailer, such as Balfe's Bikes, designed for a 3-speed hub.

Although if you have a two or six-speed Brompton, we recommend replacing both sprockets, so this is when the 12T/16T or 13T/16T sprocket set will be sold together.

We sell these as a set with other parts, as we recommend replacing everything as it could have wear and tear.

My question is:

Do any of you UK readers and riders have details of a source of 16T sprockets you would be willing to share?

Thanks

Andrew

Re: Brompton Folding Pedal - anyone replaced the bearing?

Hello all

Thank you Rogerzilla on another forum for your clear and detailed instructions.

I have recently replaced the original bearing unit in the Brompton folding pedal with an SKF bearing unit as recommended by Rogerzilla. I now have the skills and experience to share with other local Brompton riders who would like to replace their folding pedal bearing unit. I live in Nottingham so please message me if you live in the East Midlands and would like to meet.

Re: Folding E-Bike Advice

Hello Rob
Good to read your plans/aspirations and research. I have recently researched the possibility of adding an electric motor (front wheel) to my Brompton, using detailed tests and results conducted by 'A to B' magazine and website. Beware that a budget of 'around 1K' might be unrealistic, as research can reveal overall better options for perhaps a few additional hundred pounds. Indeed, a decent (reliable/easy to use/fold/unfold) bike is likely to be used more/last longer(?) than one that is inferior, so consider pounds (£s) per mile ridden/hour of use. The financial cost is only part of the equation. Good luck. Andrew
