Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Should the title be changed to "LEJOG for wimps - the return" or "JOGLE for wimps - the comeback"? :)

Re: Supplies along the way

Agree should be no problem. Only thing to bear in mind some places in small villages may shut at dinner time or on Sundays. I did LEJOG last summer with the Wimps and there was no problem really - could always find somewhere soon when needed. Were camping and tended to stock up for tea/next day towa...

Re: Blood Pressure Monitors

The monitors are fine. They should be calibrated and checked every year, but as a guide they should be ok.

Re: Hadrian's Cycleway transport?

Did this a few years ago. Left car at B&B in Ravensglass. Got train back to Carlisle no problem. Changed at Carlisle where there were a few bikes waiting for the same train. All of us got on except one, who wasn't too pleased!

Re: Your best ride of 2018?

Has to be Wimps LEJOG. Something that was on my to do list but kept getting shunted to the next year. Glorious weather so camping great, cycling hot and a good group which had come together on the forum. Not forgetting wonderful support team!

Re: Femoral nerve compression

Could do with a bit more info - symptoms, how did it happen, when did it happen, who has said it's a femoral nerve compression, ditto re disc, have you had it in the past, have you seen a physio/GP?

Re: Arran, Islay, Jura, Colonsay

Thanks. Yes September may be the month not least for family reasons. al_yrpal, not really a fan of jazz but it could be interesting for other reasons. TrevA - your weather sounded horrific! Good account. ambdach - yes I`m aware of people around here who go up to the Scottish Isles rallying - will de...

Re: Arran, Islay, Jura, Colonsay

Sorry Ellethiya - just seen your message. Interesting way of going the trip. Not in any rush so time out isn't a problem! Also quite keen on birds. The organised trip I've seen has a day on Arran, then based on Islay with a couple of days there, one on Jura and as you say a day trip to Colonsay. If ...

Re: Arran, Islay, Jura, Colonsay

Thanks for your great replies. It is easy to over think this kind of thing. I guess I could walk round Colonsay as fast as I could cycle round! Yes there is a ferry a couple of days a week from Islay, I think, which would allow me to "do" it in a day. The LEJOG weather we had was great as ...

Arran, Islay, Jura, Colonsay

Would like to cycle these possibly next year. Hooked on Cycling do a holiday, but I've heard mixed reports about them. I have several queries. Is it relatively easy to get ferries with your bike even in the holiday season ie or would I need to book in advance? As far as B&B goes I would book if ...

Re: Asking the people

Agree totally with Bob. We have a referendum every 4 years or less called a General Election. Most people don't have the knowledge or interest to cast a vote in a referendum for the correct course of action (whatever that might be). Even the politicians didn't have any idea what to do if there was a...

Re: Repeat puncture

Thanks again for all the help. Had a look at the tyre and there was a hole very close to edge of the tyre. The LBS agreed that this would be enough to let the inner tube push through and go bang. They thought the brake blocks might have rubbed the tyre. Anyway it needed a new tyre and it hasn't blow...

Re: Anaemia ?

On the contrary too much iron can be harmful to the body. Yes blood loss from the bowel is only one of many causes of anaemia, but common things are common. Further tests will tell what type of anaemia and point to causes. Personally in your age group especially, I would visit your GP.
