Re: Gloves that prevent blisters?

Buy some surgical spirit (on shelf from Boots or Super drug) and rub your hands with it to harden the skin. Do it once a day for a few weeks before the tour and take it with you. Good for your feet too to prevent athlete's foot. Wear rubber gloves when doing any dishwashing, etc. And don't grip the ...

Re: Cycle Surrey Hills routes

For information, we’ve had some reports of some vandalism on the route signage- there were a couple of instances last year, and then some it would appear more recent ones. We know that at least two post have been knocked down/removed (one twice now) and hat several others have had the A4 signs peel...

Re: Broken Campag Veloce Levers

My ergopower veloce levers (2013) have started shifting up several sprockets and so need to be repaired or replaced. It seems this is a common problem. If I buy a new shifter body will I get the same problem in the future? Is there a better shifter I could get that might be more reliable? As Brucey...

Re: German wants to reserve bikespace

After reading some threads here, I have some more questions. In Germany you can always go from the bikespace to your seat without leaving the coach. I had the impression, it could happen, that I have to leave in the UK the coach, run along the platform and entering the train again to reach my seat....

Re: Old Centaur 'V' newer Centaur ?

Linus - Veloce seems to be the only practical option now but not happy with the price. Slightly tempted to go Shimano as with all my other bikes. Thanks. The Veloce front and rear mechs are fine. But the Centaur ergos are much better than the Veloce ones. You can get spare internal for the C...

Re: Old Centaur 'V' newer Centaur ?

I bought a pair of replacement new Centaur ergo's as my old ones started jumping when operated on the button. I have a Centaur 2008 rear derailleur and 2012 (?) Ultra-shift Centaur shifters. Both 10 speed. But I can't get a good sweet change on the cassette. I have read on Velotech that it is known...

Re: German wants to reserve bikespace

I am German and I feel helpless to understand to go by train with a unfolded bicycle in the UK. In this year I want to make a cycle journey in Wales. So I try to get train tickets from Manningtree to Newport (South Wales) This are my problems. 1. Getting a bike reservation for the train Manningtree...

Re: Croix De Fer Aligned ??

Strictly speaking the string should pass on the inside of the dropouts but what you've done is probably good enough assuming the eyelets are brazed on symmetrically. One thing I would check is the alignment of the rear disc brake mount as the seat stay on that side is bent. This may make it impossib...

Re: Oh Eurostar we weep to see...

2 bikes+riders out and back on the Dover ferries would have been £100 Currently you can get a return for £30 each with a bicycle on Dover-Calais. eg, seven day trip travelling midweek in May, June or July. https://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/ How do you get that? I can't see it among the offers. I just p...

Re: Tubeless Tyres on Tubed rims

Fine to run "ghetto tubeless" with CX or MTB tyres but with the high pressure of road tyres they are liable to blow off the rim. I know because I've tried it.

The GA cycle policy doesn't even mention the London Liverpool Street to Cambridge service.
