Re: (Robert) Saunders Spacepacker vs upgraded(lighter) Saunders Base-Camp tent

I have a Saunders Jet Packer. I bought it from the man himself in Chigwell, Essex back in 1998. He and his daughter showed me around their small warehouse and let me set up the Jet Packer on their lawn to check it for size before I bought it. Bob was a real enthusiast and a real salesman. He tried t...

Re: Changing to a suspension fork on my Croix de Fer [cdf] ?!

As others have said: wider tyres and running them at a lower pressure is the way to go. If you can get 40mm tyres in there it is worth trying a tubeless set up and running the tyres at about 40psi. Something like a Maxxis Rambler or Panaracer Gravel King. Having ridden the South Downs Way last year ...

Re: New advice on adding strength training

I regularly do some press ups, sit ups together with dead lift and squats. Nothing heavy (~35 kg), doesn't take very long or require gym membership or any equipment other than a bar bell which I got for free. Same here, twice a week. Three times in the winter (because I have osteopenia and I'm at r...

Re: Vitamin B12 dosage

I took the Holland & Barrett 1,000 B12 tablets daily for a fortnight. After that I took one tablet every second day. I came up with this schedule after studying all the online data sheets and less technical comments in forums and reviews. It was confusing and I opted for what I think was a cons...

Vitamin B12 dosage

I've been a vegetarian for at least 30 years - I don't eat meat of fish, and I don't consume much dairy or eggs. I've never taken B12 supplements before. I'm confused about the recommended dosage. VeganHealth.org says to "Take one B12 supplement daily providing at least 10 micrograms or Take a ...

Re: 2013 - 2016 Cannondale CAADX SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

An update by email today. Cannondale have confirmed that we will receive at least 2 drops of forks a month and are being supplied in the order in which they were submitted. We do ask for your patience whilst we work with Cannondale to get this turned around and you back out on your bike as quickly a...

Re: 2013 - 2016 Cannondale CAADX SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

I have a bike that is part of this recall which means it is of the road which is pretty frustrating can I ask if anyone has had these replaced yet ? Many Thanks I'm still waiting. However, a guy on the Singletrack forum says he's now had his replacement forks fitted. Evans sent me and email telling...

The last time I tried riding with timber like that strapped to the bike it shimmied like mad. I thought a trip to the timber merchant would be easy. It took me a long time walking home!

Re: Spokes on Maddux 3.0 Disc

Got a couple of pairs of new spokes and replaced broken one. This revealed a slight cock up. My measurements were 2mm short. Instead of (Rear 280mm and 278mm; front 278mm both sides) they should be (Rear 282mm and 280mm; front 280mm both sides). It seems even though I've built plenty of wheel...

And it rumbles on... ***Update: Council refuses to answer key questions over ‘absurd’ cycle ban Friday, 23 August Cycling UK is demanding answers to four key questions over what it describes as an 'absurd' cycle ban at the Velolife cafe in Maidenhead. Late last Friday, it became clear that café owne...

Re: Council limiting modes of transport to a cycling cafe

I have sympathy for the council, its officers and the cafe owner as well. They have received a ruling from the Secretary of State's Planning Inspector which is difficult to interpret and apply, and yet the council is presumably duty bound to enforce the ruling. No that's not quite correct. The Insp...

Re: What3words

I like this post from another forum, apparently from the Scottish Mountain Rescue. From Scottish Mountain Rescue Our post on OS Locate yesterday prompted a bit of discussion, with people asking for the SMR view on What3Words. People that go in to remote places in Scotland should go prepared and this...

Re: Kicked. Converged. Soccer. An alternative to latitude & longitude?

Pretty much everyone who works in location technology (and hasn't been hired by what3words) agrees that it's a terrible product. It's not so much the idea, which is quite smart, but the fact that it's proprietary, secret technology which they charge for. Imagine if, every time you ordered something...
