Re: Continental Top Contact v Touring Plus Tyres

No, i am only 82kg weight and of average build.

IMO the problem lies with the triple nano compound tread layer, where it joins the liteskin sidewall , separating , first starting with the sidewall cracks and ending up like the first 2 photos.

Still waiting for a response from Schwalbe.

Re: Continental Top Contact v Touring Plus Tyres

Hi there, They have never been used for heavy loads , only commuting to and from work and normally ran pressures at 5 bar front and 5.5 bar in the rear which is within the recommended range for the tyre. There are no cuts in the tread of each tyre and otherwise they are in great condition apart from...

Re: Continental Top Contact v Touring Plus Tyres

Hi there The first set , bought in 2008 , were faulty as they were puncturing after 300miles and were replaced by Schwalbe. The replacements , at the time the new 2009 version, are fraying round the sidewalls where the tread joins the sidewall. The same tyres were fitted as standard to my 2010 Cube ...

Continental Top Contact v Touring Plus Tyres

Hello all, I am looking for new tyres and am considering either Continental Top Contacts or Touring Plus tyres for my every day bike.....a Cube Hooper. Having not been very happy with Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tyres over the last few years, I will not be considering them and would be interested in t...

Tyre Choice Schwalbe Marathon Plus v Conti Touring Plus

Hi there

I am interested in the forums view on both these tyres before I purchase and would appreciate any feedback on them. (Size 700x32)
From what I have found, the Conti tyre is slighly lighter and also cheaper to buy.
I am looking for protection and durability in a tyre.
Many Thanks

Re: touring bike with hub gears

Hello all I have just taken delivery of a Cube Hooper which retails at £999. I added mudguards, a rack, Cube bar-ends and the usual bottle carriers which added £92 to the price. I have generally set it up for touring/commuting and so far it appears to be ideal. It has a very good spec as far as I am...

Shimano XT Disc Brakes v Hayes Stroker Trail

Hello all,

I am looking for the advice of the forum regarding the mentioned disc brake systems.

The bike I am looking at can be bought with either version.

The question is , which version to go for?

All opinions appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Re: Schwalbe Marathon Supreme - any verdicts, please?

Hello all and hope you all had a good festive season, I have had Marathon Supreme tyres (700 x 35) fitted to my tourer for the last 2 years . They are definately the best tyre I have had on any bike to date and would recommend them to anybody. If you decide to get them , make sure you get the versio...

Re: Studded tyres?

An update on my last post, I have been using the bike for the last week setting off from the house about 0630hrs each morning in freezing temperatures and latterly snow on the ground. The tyres have performed admirably and I have not had any scary moments. The only time I realised how bad the condit...

Re: Studded tyres?

I bought my Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres from Dotbike last month and fitted them to my old winter bike. I have used the bike daily since fitting them and have had no stud losses. The tyres have certainly quietened down after the bedding in period and last week in the frost/ice, they were excellent...

Re: Dotbike - good service

Once again , Dotbike deliver the goods. Just bought my Schwalbe Marathon Winter studded tyres for the winter commuter from them and have no hesitation recommending them to anyone. Good quality service and as previously stated good updates regarding order status.
