I've used gatorskins on my winter commute for years without any issues, that was until this year's replacement which are so slippy and already had a few "scary moments. I have reduced the pressures a bit more this year that has made them usable, doubt I'll buy anymore.

Winter commute tyres

I'm currently using 28mm gatorskins for my 10 mile (road) daily commute, not sure if the compound has recently changed but the current tyres seem to be a bit "slippy" and it's not really got into autumn / winter yet.

Any suggestions for an alternative !!!

Anyone with any experience in would a 28mm gatorskins fit safety on to a A319 622 x 19c wheel, previously fitted with 35mm tyre

Anyone know how to adjust the brake levers on the SRAM rival, NOT the reach but the "leading " to them starting to wor the front brake seem find a small amount of movement before the brake starts to work, but the rear brake is very sharp, not lever movement before the brake is on and locks...

Not ordered the uphanger yet, but swapped the pads again with some 60mm rather than the 72mm and seems to have reduced the squealing by 90%
So going to commute next week on it and see how it goes.

Thanks PH, looks like it's worth trying at £6 + a bit of p&p guess if it's mounted to the fork it reduces the cable length and may be the flex

Anyone able to offer any advice on "squealing cantilever brakes" so far tried two different sets of pads, cleaned and degreased the rims (several times) and toed in as well. This is on the front brake only, but net result, still squealing was hoping to use this bike (Galaxy) as my winter c...
