If not how about a plastic shovel?

What pedals to use due to brain injury

Hi

I have been road cycling for nearly 4 years, and 3 of those years I have used Shimano RS500 SPD-SL ROAD CYCLING PEDALS.

6 years ago I was diagnosed with lung cancer, which inspired to keep fit and healthy and ultimately into road cycling. 18 months ago my cancer went to my brain which resulted in me having a seizure in my right leg. I lost some mobility in the bottom half of my leg, but I able to slip my foot on and off the pedal.

Recently I suffered some more right leg seizures and my right leg has got worse, and I find difficult to get my right shoe back on the pedal it takes me about 2-3 minutes.

Well anyway I don’t want to give up cycling, so can anyone recommend any type of pedal that will keep my right foot safely in place, and is a better to guide my shoe back on the pedal.

Comparing my cycling performance to others

I’m average or above or below average.

I’m aged 63
I’ve been road cycling for 3 years
I have had lung cancer for over 5 1/2 years
I suffered a focal seizure Jan 2019 where I lost partial mobility in my right lower leg because my cancer went to my brain
I am 6ft and weigh 15 stone 6 lbs around a 16lbs overweight
My road bike is a Cube Attain fully Carbon
I’ve rode over 6500 miles in 3 years
I cycle on average 70-100 miles a week barring weather and health problems
My average speed overall is 15.4 mph
My average overall heart rate is 151 bpm
My best circuit was 17.4 miles in 61 minutes
The rides I cycle on are 80% flat with an elevation of about 1600 ft

I would love to know as a lone rider am I average or below or higher than average for my age, experience and health condition

Can you give me your experienced opinion. Btw if I lost more weight would this drastically improve my distance & times

Tredz is a part of the Halfords Group, the service you receive is IMO comparable to any other chain. An update in 10 days is better service than I've had from some local retailers and worse than from others.

The law states if you return a faulty item you are entitled to a refund or a replacement. It’s their problem with their supplier.

Tredz Bikes in Cardiff & Swansea

Never buy a bike from this company based in Cardiff & Swansea.

I purchased a Boardman road bike from them last year cost me £2400 with a Shimano di2 battery gear change, the battery run out a couple of weeks ago so I took the battery unit off the bike to charge it up for the first time and the charger wasn’t working.

So I returned the battery unit and the charger back to Tredz and you would think they would test it themselves, and send me out a replacement as I can’t use the bike without it, but oh no is this the email I got from them this morning.

Hi Mike,

I hope you're well!

Your return has been forwarded to the supplier for inspection under warranty. This can usually take approximately 10-14 working days, however we are expecting delays due to supplier closures/skeleton staffing levels following COVID-19. We will check in with you on day 10 regardless and as soon as we receive a response from the supplier we shall contact you further with an update.

Kind Regards,

Josh
Tredz Team.

You will have to bear with me apparently this forum doesn’t take the number of photos I’m attaching at one time. So post them in batches

Re: Polar M400 GPS watch

Only got the one laptop as I said downloaded the app connected the watch but can’t the app to recognise the watch, nothing happens. The seems to be internet connection problem in the app. My external internet is okay don’t understand why the app needs internal internet connection.

Really to get in touch with someone who has done it before.

Thanks

Polar M400 GPS watch

Hi

I want to factory reset the above watch because I want to sell it on, and I’ve tried all the methods explained on the Polar website without any results. I connected my watch to my laptop USB port and downloaded the Polar Flow app but there seems to a connection problem even after I disabled the firewall.

So if I can’t factory reset the watch will it cause the buyer or me any problems with my details still on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

App that measures elevation

I use instant google street view to look around new cycle routes, but when following this website it seems very deceptive whether a road is flat, rising or very hilly.

Does anyone know of a app or website where I can map out a ride and it tells me the elevation of the road and how high and distance it is rising.

I am only asking because I have lung cancer and find hard to get oxygen in my blood on long steep rises which gives me fatigue when carrying on the ride, this happened the other day when I turned off the A48 to cycle around Shirenewton. I am okay on the flat and don’t mind the odd steady hill.

My average daily ride is 35 miles and 100 miles a week, also I have only been road cycling for 22 months and completed 4075 miles to date, I am 62 and have got much better and fitter, I have lost 2 1/2 stone in weight but could do with losing another stone+ would that make a difference? I weigh 15s 10lbs it would great to get down to 14s +

I appreciate any help

Cycling around Hereford city

I’m planning to ride from Hereford to Newport via A465 to Abergavenny, my biggest problem is once I get off the train at Hereford what is safest way in getting from the railway station over Wye bridge and onto A465

I have looked at Google maps but they’re not very cycle friendly

Any help would be most welcome

Are my times average or good

I am 62 this July and for past 4 years I have been fighting lung cancer.

20 months ago I started road cycling, starting with a mountain bike then a hybrid and for past year fully carbon road bikes mainly to lose weight get fit and keep healthy I’ve lost over 2 stone in weight and feel much fitter

To date I have cycled 3565 miles 90% flat 10% hills my average distances speed & heart rate are:

25 miles, maximum 46 miles
16.5 mph overall, maximum 25 mph short bursts
155 bpm maximum 166 bpm

Are there any experienced cyclists who could tell me if this is average or good for my age considering my health condition

Thanks Mike
