Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Ever since I was 61 I've wanted to do LeJog. Two tries (to be supported by family in 2013 and by Saddle Skeddadle in 2014) have been thwarted by, respectively, the theft of my bikes from the garage followed the next year a touch of cardiac arrest. I'm 67 now, and still want to do it and the easiest...

Re: Royston Woods - A Safer Way - Who has actually done it ?

I've only dabbled with the Scottish end. I recall coming down from Tongue and taking the B871 via Skelpik and Syre to Altnahatra Anyone any thoughts on this road ? Little traffic I remember. Matt .... we took this road and it is stunning! No traffic. A few extra miles than our original route but we...

Re: Royston Woods - A Safer Way - Who has actually done it ?

Sorry ...but I never did a blog. Agree the route is definitely not for a sub 10 day ride! It is slow in place (sometimes very slow). You do get frustrated at times on the canal paths (people, fishermen, dogs in the way) but it is a VERY safe route. The only section I would DEFINITELY change is the s...

Re: Royston Woods - A Safer Way - Who has actually done it ?

Update ------ LEJOG completed in 13 days using the Roystons route the majority of the way. 986 miles and 40699 feet https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27674531 I changed some of it to suite our overnight stops. Have to say it is a fantastic route and very safe. One major change was not using the A9 when...

Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own?

Absolutely spot on! My philosophy entirely! Sorry, can't offer any advice for companies, because I reckon they ALL want some sort of "angle" to their business plan. Dartmoor, is just one of them. If you want to do these places .......... like you say ............ go and do them as a separ...

Royston Woods - A Safer Way - Who has actually done it ?

Doing my LEJOG on June 14th and looking at Roystons route. Anyone actually done it and if so did you make any amendments (or would you have)? Looking to do it in 13 days. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Mike

Upgrading my gears ... is it possible?

Hi I am pretty 'green' when it comes to technical issues on bikes. I recently changed my old Trek 7500 Hybrid and got a Trek Crossrip 3 to do LEJOG. I am now really struggling on hills! The Crossrip CASSETTE: Shimano 105, 11-32, 11-speed CRANK: Shimano 105 50/34 Compact Crankset SHIFTERS: Shimano RS...
