Re: NCR45 - The Mercian Way - Salisbury to Chester

It was very good. I'm surprised that you found it in such a state - I used to ride it all the time and it was usually fine. https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/69478879_2311914355791982_5567931083535679488_n.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_oc=AQnC-7_RAo6YwzUfTQPcTe-ZSzyni-Wb7A1vPVifc7HMObE2OTJhulC...

Re: NCR45 - The Mercian Way - Salisbury to Chester

I did a bit of it recently - Gloucester to Ironbridge. I noticed that because it tends to meander a bit I quite often spent equal parts of the day riding west and east, thus both into the westerly and with it throughout the day. Plus, as you get up the Severn Valley to the Ironbridge gorge the wind ...

Yes and it proved that you shouldn't make frames out of it!

Bike cam software

I have footage from my new cam but now I need to edit it. I have an hour's worth of 3min long .avi files. I want to stick them together, remove the sound, get it to play at a much faster speed and save it into a format that doesn't take up too much space and is suitable for social media. Basically I...

Re: Grand Union Canal Birmingham to Lapworth?

Ive ridden it loads of times without issue. I also know two people who have been mugged there, and have heard of others. I think it goes in waves, a few muggings happen, police have a clamp down, safe for a while, then next set of muggers start up. If you have a look on the BCC website you can find...

Re: The worst place in the UK for cycling?

Well, my nomination, back in 2011, was Telford. Funnily enough I went through there a couple of weeks back on a cycle tour. Don't know what it's like as a whole but I followed the Silkin way and NCN85. Have to say that it was very pleasant. Used a perfectly adequately surfaced old railway line to g...

Re: And another off.

But I'd also suggest there's a degree of bloody mindedness on my part indeed, tis something i recognise well. Staying in a position of danger because you know that you are in the right and are fed up with people treating you like scum. Sometimes it works and they back off, other times they back off...

Re: The worst place in the UK for cycling?

I'm guessing that I may have nominated Birmingham as one of the worst towns too. Eight years later it's both better and worse. We have much more usable infra, including the two new (almost) fully segregated blue routes with priority over many side roads and their own phases on a number of traffic li...

Out of the mounths of babes...

Leading a ride the other day. Got back to the car park where we started and there were some kids messing around on bikes and skateboards. Had to giggle - every time one of them did something silly and ended up in a pile on the ground the others pointed, laughed and said "You're Boris Johnson&qu...
